2 Days with Plusnet and wanting to leave

Plusnet router the worst I have had.  Plusnet agreed and suggested I use a BT Hub 6....unbelievable!!!!

Decided to leave as only 2 days of service...£140 to cancel as my 14 days cooling off is when I signed the contract.

I asked before I joined any restrictions…No.  So why can’t I change the DNS?

Can anyone advise on a modem or modem / Router other than the BT Hub 6?

Re: 2 Days with Plusnet and wanting to leave

@johntboyle Depends which restrictions you questioned. What actual problems have you had/got?

The BT HH6 is a better router than the Hub1, so the suggestion was a fair one.

You haven't given Plusnet much chance to rectify any perceived problems, have you?

@johntboyle

If you want to select your DNS servers then get a Business version of a Smarthub or spend more money depending on what other features you need. Pusnet is a budget provider and supply a budget hub.

Re: 2 Days with Plusnet and wanting to leave

I don't expect a provider to send a substandard product and agree, then say “oh use another modem / router”.  Why would you give a company a chance, then say oh if you are a business customer wait until the 14th October and you can upgrade to get a new modem / router that you can change the DNS and is much better.  I have never experienced such service, its breath taking.

Try answering my original questions, then some of us could possibly suggest solutions.

Ok and my question is other than BT hub 6..."Can anyone advise on a modem or modem / Router other than the BT Hub 6?"

Re: 2 Days with Plusnet and wanting to leave

Plusnet does not put any restrictions on which modem/router you use, so any ADSL if you are on ADSL will do as long as it is not locked to another supplier - same applies to VDSL if you have FTTC.

Re: 2 Days with Plusnet and wanting to leave

Yeah, you are absolutely right…please advise me on what help?  Do you honestly think that you answered my question upgrade to a business account, use a BT hub 6…really?

But in another sense, you have helped indirectly as this exchange has confirmed that I don’t want to be with Plusnet, and an additional reason is that if the community think that this level of service is acceptable, then I can’t accept this.  It is dreadful…6 years ago I had a BT Hub 5 and it was rubbish then.

So thank you for your help with my decision.

Re: 2 Days with Plusnet and wanting to leave

The supplied Modem/Router is restricted.
