Capped or banded line

As title suggests, I think my line may be restricted below its actual potential. As an initial step, is there any way of getting this confirmed?

Re: Capped or banded line

@Blenheim15 Your connection is being 'managed' by DLM as there is an issue somewhere, as indicated by the elevated SNR figures.

First thing to check: Is your phoneline clear? Dial 17070 (preferably from a corded phone), select option 2. Once your phone number is confirmed, there should be silence on the line except for the regular 'Quiet Line Test' message - any other noise, report a PHONE problem via: https://www.plus.net/help/report-a-problem/phone/

If the phone test passes, report a broadband problem via: https://www.plus.net/help/report-a-problem/broadband/

Let us know the result - if the tests come back as clear but you still have a problem, we need to investigate further.

The above assumes you still have 'normal' landline connection - if you have a SOGEA (internet only) one, just use the second link to report a network issue.

Re: Capped or banded line

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately the Diagnostics Bot doesn't seem to work if you have a line without an associated phone number. I'll contact Plusnet directly.

Re: Capped or banded line

OK - had you said you were on SoGEA, I would have suggested that anyway. If they claim there is nothing wrong, come back and we can try another tack.

Re: Capped or banded line

@Blenheim15 Yep I did the same for my parents line the text Diagnostics Bot doesn't seem to work for their SoGEA which it stupid indeed. Plusnet should ACT and SORT THIS OUT. Why and what the point for text message if it don't support SoGEA line in the first place. We have to ring up PN Tech Support instead to booked the engineer in. Plusnet are just awful now terrible!

@goldenfibre Please don't 'reply' to a topic unless you are going to help - your recent comments here and elsewhere are, shall we politely say 'superfluous'

Re: Capped or banded line

My reply does help other. Because my parents line on SoGEA and the text message Diagnostics Bot didn't seem to work we end up called PN. So, It will alert other who on SoGEA if text message doesn't work - they have to phone up PN instead. I think PN should bring back Fault submitted online rather than text message BOT.

Re: Capped or banded line

Plusnet support confirmed that my line was being 'managed' by DLM. Ran a few tests, tweaked a few things, net result is that router is now synched at 70813 Kbps against a reported max rate of 71254 Kbps, upload back to 20000 Kbps.

Hopefully it remains stable and whatever caused the line to be managed doesn't reoccur.

Thanks to all who replied.

Re: Capped or banded line

@Blenheim15 glad to hear your line fully restored as it should be. Don't be alarmed if DLM act again, best to leave router ON at all times!
