FTTP Upload Speed

Hi all,

This week I was told by Openreach that FTTP is finally in my area and I will be able to order when I like.

I am a little confused about the options however, especially in relation to the upload speed.

The Openreach website suggests that I should be able to order 1800mbps down and 120mbps up, great. When I look on most providers offers I see anything from 74 - 900mbps download but the upload varies greatly from 58-120mbps. The exception to this is Plusnet which says that there 500mbps download package will also do 275mbps upload?

Is that upload correct as it is greatly over the speed the Openreach website has listed? Should I just take Plusnet's figures as accurate or is it likely that Openreaches website will be more accurate with 120mbps upload?

Many thanks.

Re: FTTP Upload Speed

@Hyperion

The available upload speed is in direct relation to the chosen download speed. The starter package is 74 / 20. I think the next one up is 145 / 30 and so on. It's the same for all ISP's who use the OpenReach network.

I believe you have misread the figures - the 275Mbps is the minimum guaranteed download speed. The upload speed for the 500Mbps package is 75Mbps.

Re: FTTP Upload Speed

Fix

@Hyperion

So, just done a quick check on my account. Speeds available are

74 / 20

145 / 30

300 / 50

500 / 75

900 / 115

With FTTP you should get near advertised speeds - there is no distance penalty like FTTC.
