If you want more, go to BT.
I very much doubt PN will be serving FTTP to remove locations any time soon.
Certainly not with recession looming now. Who knows, they might even be dissolved.
And that's ultimately what has been said here several times now.

I don't sleep much these days. But you should.
Hope the hangover isn't too harsh for a Monday.

Whether BT will just fade plusnet out as fttc goes.
It’s not really about remote areas though as the infrastructure is there.
It’s more about plusnets backend systems not being fttp capable, which BT would need to update and keep delaying (for reasons discussed)

Same here as a creative and a hosting business owner!
Recession looming… I agree on that. House prices, inflation, energy… somethings going to go bang soon.

Yep, it's all about infrastructure. Those FO telecom cabinets aren't cheap.
And BTW, they got government grants to lay all that FO cabling over the last 10 years, that doesn't mean it's connected to anything at the exchange!

There's another thing, since you speak of static IP addresses... IPv6 roll out delays!
Now ask yourself why the delay for that?
Why set up a system where there will be more unique IP addresses than there are stars in the universe when they can charge businesses up to the hilt for very rare IPv4 static IP so they can attach a DNS location to it and run their business.
See where I'm coming from now? Scarcity becomes a commodity!
Sleep on that, brother.
Good night.

Some issues surrounding ipv6 though are the same in datacentres and servers. Customers can’t remember or understand them.
IPv4 is so easy, yeah we know we can attach a domain to an ipv6 so we don’t have to remember it but some are not so technical.
Also slot of server systems are ip protected, ipv4 are easier to manage.
Some will actually pay for ipv4 for these reasons.
So as you say BT, datacentres etc all hang onto this.
And customers like me hang onto plusnets free static ip.

Well mark me down as one person who would jump at the chance of FTTP.
Plusnet provide a great service but offering FTTP would make it greater.

I've been with PN for 14 years ,generally happy with price & service. Currently the village I'm in, is changing over to FTTP altho currently we have freedom of choice and I'm still on FTTC. Mobile signal is poor on most/all networks so I still have a landline. The question for me ,is how long Openreach will continue the Cu network after the FTTP deployment is finished.
If PN don't offer FTTP soon then I may be forced to change supplier anyway. My contracted deal ends in November so ??...

But is FTTP available for your property? If not, then is doesn't matter whether or not PlusNet offer it. If it is, you can move to BT or EE FTTP free of any cancellation charges - but you need to let PlusNet know first.

Last unofficial word on FTTP was middle of the year. It is coming, but I suspect they're having trouble getting the back office systems sorted out. Without that, they can't do FTTP.

@bmc
Yes we’ve had FTTP cables along the path for more than 6 months now.
Now I didn’t know you could move to BT or EE without cancellation charges, that makes a big difference.

Also prices are rising 9% in March so probably best to wait for an offer afterwards as normal prices can be high.
