hi. Is it true that plusnet will close? when I log into my account and the one in the picture in orange is visible for less than a second and disappears, see the picture. where it says chat, I contacted their BT chat and they told me that they are closing Plusnet.the other, which is a few days ago, they sent me an email and a message on the phone that my internet provider would be canceled without my asking for it and they were going to transfer me to BT without my asking for it. can someone answer me. I live in a shared house, how many internet providers can there be in one house or only one?

Welcome to the forums @huskataa

Yes, Plusnet Business is closing

https://www.plus.net/business/faqs/

Residential Plusnet is continuing albeit it will, by 2025, be Broadband only with no phone services

(edit. if you didn't know their mobile phone offerings are ceasing too)

Is it true that plusnet will close?

@huskataa No, Plusnet is not closing down. They are however discontinuing Business accounts.

They will assist you in transferring to a BT Business account. If you wish to transfer elsewhere they will not apply any Early termination charges.

Note that you will lose your Plusnet email addresses.

It MAY be possible to transfer to a residential account if that is suitable, however the account must be in a personal name and no VAT invoices are available.

@jab1  agreed, but why should that warning come up unless its a business account.

@huskataa If you believe you dont have a business account then I suggest you give customer support a call 0800  432 0200 and ask why you are getting that message

I got this email a few days ago and this is just one part of it

We're sorry to hear you're leaving us.

Another service provider has told us that you want to move your broadband away from Plusnet.

Your broadband service is scheduled to transfer automatically on 8th February 2024 and will result in the cancellation of your Plusnet account. This means that on this date, your services will be taken over by your new provider and you won't need to contact us to cancel your service with us.

We're really sad to lose you as a customer and would love to offer you one of our great deals before you leave, it's all part of us doing you proud. Visit the Member Centre or call us for free on 0800 073 3057 from a landline or mobile. If something isn't right and you would like to speak to someone about your account, the sooner you call the easier it is to change things.

@huskataa , @MisterW Looks like someone has entered a wrong phone number in a request to transfer some other account.

@huskataa I suggest you call them - quickly - on the number in the email and tell them you have no wish to leave, and will they please cancel the transfer.

I dunno about that, some can have digital business's whereby they hold no assets or stock and sell items on to their buyers without ever putting a finger on the package being sent.

@DS Possible, but I somehow don't think that is the situation here.

Re: I received an email and a message on the phone that they will cancel my internet provider withou

I will explain everything from the beginning. I moved to a new address for me in a shared house where 5 other tenants live, there is an internet provider in the house which is for all tenants, but I specifically asked the landlord before moving in if I could have my own internet provider and he told me, that there is no problem and that I can. then I chose plusnet and after a few days the engineer from openreach came to install the cables, after installing the cables and starting my internet, the one at the house stopped which is for the other tenants and since then the other other internet provider is not working. I don't know what the engineer did to the dashboard post, this is what I saw.

I talked to plusnet and they told me that someone is trying to take my line and I think the landlord is trying to launch new internet providers, but where are they going to cancel my internet provider? I have chats, what I wrote with the team, if anyone wants to write to me personally, I can send them to them if they can help me with something.

Re: I received an email and a message on the phone that they will cancel my internet provider withou

@jab1 maybe so, maybe not

But that prompt on their account leads me to believe it's a business one:

Plusnet Business is closing soon - act now!

Plusnet is part of BT Group so we have access to a range of exclusive BT Business deals to help you get the right broadband and voice solutions tailored just for you.

Move today. Call 0800 389 7854 or Chat Now>

Now I know I've not been lurking here for a while, but I don't recall a residential customer ever having a business message pop up on their residential account.

@huskataa Did you have a new telephone cable installed for your service, or are you using the one which was already there? You need a phoneline if you are using a different ISP to the one which was already there and being used by the other tenants.

When you took out your own personal contract with Plusnet, did you ask for a Business Account?

It really does sound like Openreach have killed the other connection and moved 'that line' to 'your account'

Did he install a NEW line from the outside to your room?

It's sounding like the 'original account' is trying to take 'yours' back

Somebody somewhere has NOT made it clear you wanted a second (2nd) line installing.
