New downstream cap on Fibre Extra?

Just noticed I used to max out at ~75 downstream but now it seems to have consistently dropped to ~70. My synch speeds remain at around ~100/~30 so I can only conclude Plusnet have recently changed the product and limited it down to ~70 downstream from ~75?

Re: New downstream cap on Fibre Extra?

Something's not right as it's not possible to get more than 80/20 on an Openreach FTTC product which we provide. Are you looking at the maximum attainable speed, instead of the sync speed?

We haven't changed the product but I've tested your line and the tests aren't showing any issues with your router getting 80mbps. Although DLM has enabled transmission so this will push your actual speed down a little.

Re: New downstream cap on Fibre Extra?

@Gandalf The 100/30 figure I mentioned is just the synch speed. The line speed is 80/20 which used to give me ~75 down ~18 up. Now down is ~70.
What does it mean that DLM has enabled 'transmission' ? Does that mean it's looking to lower my speeds?

Re: New downstream cap on Fibre Extra?

100/30 won’t be the sync speed, if anything it’ll be the maximum attainable which in theory your FTTC line could achieve. Sorry I meant to say retransmission, this is a form of error correction which DLM can apply.
