Reduced IP Profile and Expected Speeds

Since re-contracting in December 2021, my connection has been very stable.

Previously I was using a BT HomeHub 6 and this was OK apart from overnight reboots occurring every few days.

In January 2022 I transferred to the PN Hub 2 and all the rebooting stopped. In fact until yesterday my system has been up for 87 days.

02:07:46 28 May. DSL Link Up: Down Rate=40000kbps

Yesterday my system rebooted and the speed was reduced.

12:37:37 23 Aug. DSL Link Up: Down Rate=36738kbps

BT Performance Tests show that the IP Profile has reduced from 38.67 Mbps to 35.52 Mbps and measured speeds form 36.75 to 32.83 Mbps.

So my speeds are now below the expected range, can someone please investigate.

Re: Reduced IP Profile and Expected Speeds

Hey @dejjones,

I'm really sorry to hear about the issues that you've been experiencing with the broadband speeds recently and I apologise for the delay in getting back to you. I've run a test on the line today and discovered that the current sync speeds are 38.3Mbps down and 8.8Mbps up, with no underlying fault conditions present at this time. It's been some time since you posted this topic - have the speeds on your end changed at all since then?

Re: Reduced IP Profile and Expected Speeds

Hi TheMightyAJ

Thanks for the reply.

I have enclosed below an extract from the "WAN" selection of the Hub 2 router Event Log.
It shows 2 of the 4 disconnect and reconnects that have occurred since August 23rd ( I called them reboots earlier not sure of the correct wording).

But as I said before, there have been no disconnects between May 21st and August 23rd (87 days) and then 4 since the 23rd August; the last being this morning at 01.29.

This early morning disconnect/reconnect  was the regular pattern I was enduring previous to installing the PN Hub 2 router, so I had assumed that the problem must have been cured by the Hub 2,
Maybe not.

BT Performance Tests show that after each of these events the IP Profile changes.
Currently it is at 37.05Mbps.

So "why are these early morning events happening", seems to be the root of the problem; which is the same question I had 2 years ago.

I hope you can make some progress this time.

Re: Reduced IP Profile and Expected Speeds

It is not unusual for the connection to drop some times as there a number of factors that can cause it. These are such as maintenance etc and if the drops become 3 in 24 hours or 5 in 72 hours, it would indicate a further problem.

After these drops due to the reason mentioned, it can take the speed a day or two to get back to normal levels. If it doesn't then we would have to look into to this more.

Keep an eye on it and let us know if any the above happens.
