Replacing router

Hey, I recently bought a new router, ASUS AX82U and the wan port is rj45 but the wall socket is a 631A, I did notice that only 2 of the 8 cables are connected to the socket, how can I connect my new router? Can I buy a rj45 wall socket and rewire it? I tried using an adapter but it does not work.

That router does not have an integrated modem. You will need to pair it with an xDSL modem in order for it to work.

You will need a modem with that router, it does not have one built in, which is why it has the RJ45 connecter.

You should be able to pick up a Huawei HG612 for relatively cheap on eBay.

Or if you are able to send it back, see if they will swap it for the DSL version - other vendors are available!

Cheers guys, went and replaced for the DSL model, I rushed into buying without even double checking if it had DSL, got the DSL version and it's great, easy and fast setup
