Slow Upload - Capped

Hi, my line has had the upload speed capped at 1.29mbit  for a few months now. The line is stable, can it be uncapped as I need all the upload speed I can get

Thanks

@digit101 What product are you on? I don't think upload speeds are capped, but they are not guaranteed. How is your download speed?

@digit101

Can you post a screen image of the results from the following so we can see what speeds you should be expecting. Remember to hide your details.

It would help with diagnosing your problem if you could post here a screenshot of your modem/router's DSL connection status screen showing the actual and max/attainable line speeds, SNR margin, error counters, etc - but be sure to obscure your login username.

@digit101

What was your upload speed before it became capped ?

Re: Slow Upload - Capped

@digit101

It would also be useful to have visibility of what BT Openreach thinks your up and down "IP Profile" numbers are.

First find the BBEU number for your connection, it should be displayed in your Plusnet 'Member Centre' > "Manage Account"

Go to - BT Wholesale Broadband Performance Test , and hit the "GO" button

when the test completes, hit the <Additional Diagnostic>

click on <Broadband Service ID (BBEU)>

enter your BBEU number in the box below

then hit <Run Diagnostic> and wait ... .... ...... ........

IF that completes successfully (for some people it doesn't) ,  can you post a screenshot of the results.

@jab1

@digit101 's topic Slow upload line capped?  (May 2021), shows they were on FTTC and the upstream rate was banded.

If you look at  Kitz - FTTC Banding Profiles  you can see the various FTTC UPSTREAM banding ranges

Re: Slow Upload - Capped

@Anunnaki (what was your previous forum ID?) - Since my original post, I did look back at the OP's history and noted that they had a similar issue three years ago - a further GEA report would be useful, but it appears that under the new rules, staff are very reluctant to provide this useful data.

Are there new rules ? - if so do you have a link ? - I must have missed that announcement.

I got the impression from this post that staff are now unable (rather than 'reluctant') to access customer's connection info.

        "... we haven't got access to the systems we used to have to look at stats in more detail ..."

although having said that, there was obviously enough 'access' to perform a DLM Reset to resolve that topic's request.

It's a bit worrying for Plusnet's future if visibility of customer's broadband line diagnostics has been removed.

Re: Slow Upload - Capped

I was being 'polite' referring to 'new rules' - if you have been around these forums as long as I have, you will have seen them be aligned with those of 'BT Broadband', where what few staff post on there are severely restricted in what 'help' they are prepared/allowed to offer, in line with the BT principles, which are based on those of GPO Telephones of old - i.e. regard the customer as an inconvenience and provide only the minimum of support - very reluctantly.

Re: Slow Upload - Capped

I see what you're saying, and bow to your extensive experience.

I can sort of understand Plusnet not spending money on keeping up with new features (like VoIP, IPv6, etc) or keeping up with current standards for existing things (like email),  but it seems self-defeating to 'reluctantly' provide support to existing customers, and self-harming to remove access to line diagnostics for the business's core BROADBAND product.

I have noticed that this so called "support forum" rarely has any staff presence, and is in need of a "button" to flag the general attention of staff (rather than randomly PM or @ tag a staff member who might fleetingly appear in "Who's Online") to provide assistance with a topic.

I wonder if EE customers are also seeing this decline or inability to access systems ? - as part of your BT group theory ?

I don't know - and don't care, TBH. I left PN 3 years ago, because I could see where they were going, and am only still on the forums to (1) keep my ageing brain active and (2) help, where I can, those still here.

Re: Slow Upload - Capped

Hi here are the modem stats and the bt speed estimate and tests. The bt advanced speed test comes up with an error.
