SoGEA

I noticed today that I could move on to a fibre broadband only package without landline (I currently have fibre broadband package with a landline). I don't really need the landline so are there any donwsides to moving. It seems to be cheaper and the technology behind it is something called SoGEA. Do I need any new equipment in the house?

Re: SoGEA

'SOGEA' - 'Single Order Generic Ethernet Access'. No new equipment - the only difference is the removal of the 'voice' - phone - component.

Re: SoGEA

@JS1   the biggest disadvantage is the loss of a voice element, so when fault finding you will no longer be able to dial 17070 option 2 to listen for noise that will affect your speeds and so be able to quickly diagnose faults, or even use it to phone PN and report a fault.

Guesing you don't use a landline phone so go ahead and save a couple of quid - same router and place to plug it in - well unless you ask for a newer one as part of the deal.
