Using TP-Link AC13000 Deco M5 with Plus net

Hi, I have invested in this router to improve speed, lessen buffering, increase wifi coverage in the house/garden, and above all for the improved parental controls. I am not very tech savvy!

Having read around on various sites this was described as easy....

The instructions tell me to turn off my modem (but I think that might be inside the Hub2...if I don't have one I can connect directly to an ethernet outlet....) It also tells me to disconnect the old router....so presumably that means the entire Hub2 ....should connect my modem's Lan port to the ethernet port on the deco.....From this point I should be able to set the thing up.....

Can anybody help me with this?! I hope so......

You say you have a Hub2, but are you on FTTP or FTTC?

Are you looking to set it up as an Access Point, or to take over Routing from the Hub2?

If the latter, then rather than switch off the modem, you would need to set the Hub2 in modem mode.

To expand on @Mustrum‘s reply.

If you are on the latest FTTP (full fibre) service then connect the Deco straight to the BT ONT.  No Hub 2 is required. 

If like most of as you are on ADSL or FTTC (standard broadband, fibre or fibre extra) you need to go into the Hub 2 settings and set it to Bridge Mode. From memory this should then show a white light, rather than blue. Connect the dsl lead to your BT master socket via a filter or filtered faceplate as normal. Connect one of the yellow LAN sockets to your Deco.

You then need to set the Deco to PPPoE and enter your Plusnet credentials.

Thanks for you response. I have managed to get into the setting for my router, but it isn't obvious how to get into the bridge mode....

Go to the Advanced Settings, you will need to enter the Admin password from the tab on the rear of the hub. Then at the bottom of the Broadband page you will see a field called Bridging. Set this to Yes and save.
