Since November 2023 my downstream rate has consistently been around 20000 kbps.
My router and DSL connection have been up for about 95 days.
I noticed that since a remote DSL reset around 17:00 yesterday the downstream rate had dropped to around 13700 kbps.
I've rebooted my router and the DSL comes back at a downstream rate of 13732 kbps.
Upstream rate is 144 kbps, downstream SNRM is 5.8 db, upstream SNRM is 8.6 db
I've changed nothing to any configuration of my router or wiring.
Any ideas as to what has caused this sudden speed drop?
Fixed! Go to the fix.

That looks like an external fault, rather than Openreach DLM (Dynamic Line Management) causing any restriction.
Have you tried running the Plusnet automated line test (by texting HELP to 07800008121) see Report your problem by text message (using a mobile that has it's number registered in your Plusnet Member Centre Broadband account details )
For completeness, what was your upstream rate before this fault ?

I texted the PlusNet Diagnostics bot and it's come back saying the tests have found a problem with their network so you're correct it looks like an external fault.
I don't pay to much attention to the upstream rate TBH but I could have retrieved it from DSLstats that I have running on my PC had I not stupidly stopped instead of pausing it 🙄

Have you been told whether or not you need an engineer visit ?

The tests indicate that Openreach will be able to resolve the problem without visiting my property.

Openreach have been out and traced the fault to a break in one of the two wires that make make up the copper pair to my property. Apparently the break was in a cabinet close to my property and the Openreach Engineer repaired it.
