Call from 07973 100611 saying Plusnet Business ceasing 31 December

I had a call from this mobile number saying Plusnet Business was ceasing 31 December 2023.

Very pushy. I told him our contract was up to April 2024, but he persisted.

I asked him to ring back that afternoon as I was driving. At about the third time of asking he agreed and hung up, but never rang back at the agreed time.

So - I gather from other posts that the 31 December date is untrue.

But - is this a genuine call from BT? On one forum I've seen this listed as a number EE use for outbound calls, specifically their "loyalty team". Why would EE be ringing about this?

Re: Call from 07973 100611 saying Plusnet Business ceasing 31 December

Hi Sammy,

I made the earlier post after being told the same as Phil very clearly and forcefully. A little background - I am a volunteer at a charity currently on long-term sick for mental health. When having difficulties with reality and processing language, having someone call out of the blue and tell you something that is outright untrue is unhelpful at best. I can't take it 'with a pinch of salt' as Will suggested on my thread or I wouldn't be on here responding at 3am.

Sammy - how do I escalate this as a complaint? I cancelled earlier than I intended on false information and suffered distress as a result.

Will called me this morning and was an absolute gentleman. Someone is spoofing for these calls: mine came from a different number to Phil but the same one as Will. What's done is done for me but the social media team is looking into it which is greatly appreciated.

@stmarksbelper  You can cancel the move to SKY if you don't want it to go ahead, there's a 14 day cooling off period to allow an order to be cancelled.

Re: Call from 07973 100611 saying Plusnet Business ceasing 31 December

Just had another call, this time from 0793 100606. Someone who wouldn't give his full name, just "Adam", saying he was from Plusnet and that Plusnet Business was ceasing 31 December 2023. I asked him to put it in writing. He said he would, then he hung up.

Watch this space!

(Edited as number actually different to last time. Same sales pitch though)

From https://who-called.co.uk/

This number, primarily associated with fraudulent activities, where callers impersonate BT, is a mobile number operated by EE Limited (Orange)

Re: Call from 07973 100611 saying Plusnet Business ceasing 31 December

I had a similar call, claiming to be from PlusNet and that service will end in 30 days and if wanted to move to BT, I said no because BT costs too much for a lesser experience (no static IPs etc without exorbitant charges). I said my contract is until well into 2024. He said it won't be, the service will end in 30 days.. I said what about compensation for breaking the contract, he then said I'd need to speak to PlusNet about that but it will still end in 30 days... I said I thought you were from PlusNet... ummmmm

Re: Call from 07973 100611 saying Plusnet Business ceasing 31 December

I had a call from the same number on 22/11/23 and 30/11/23 but only picked up the last time.  The conversation went along almost identical lines.  When the caller persisted in trying to get me to move to BT I realised this was a high pressure sales call nothing more.

My contract end date was February 2024 but I have brought it forward.  I've had a letter telling me there will be an early termination charge.  The "Changes to Plusnet Business Broadband FAQs" say it will be credited.  They have no justification for an ETC in the circumstances.

I'm glad to be leaving now although migrating email is a pain. Sad that PlusNet was taken over by BT; it's been downhill since then.

Re: Call from 07973 100611 saying Plusnet Business ceasing 31 December

The standard letter can be ignored safely in respect of business accounts. Though the ETCs are mentioned and might be billed, they will be credited in the final bill. There’s numerous references to this around here.

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.
