That sounds like a traffic management bug, probably best not to go into detail on that in this thread?

Yeah, it is a bug and I've had tickets open on this since October. However the effect of the wrong classification has got far worse over the last few weeks which is why I think it's appropriate to query if it's associated with the other issues.

That's an interesting latency graph! Could I ask where it's from?

You obviously haven't found this page: http://www.plus.net/support/service/
Have a look at the second link in the Network performance graphs section.

Ah ha!! You're right, I hadn't found that obscure corner of the support site  Undecided
Interesting. So it's the bronze and best effort queues on both 20CN and 21CN that are suffering during the evening peak. Which is what you'd expect (in terms of which queues) but perhaps not the magnitude of the problem. The bit I don't understand is why speedtest.net results show significant throughput reduction for affected customers, but speed test traffic should surely be in the gold queue, which looks pretty normal in evening hours...?
(sorry if I'm catching up on what has already been said!)

@Bright
Exchange congestion, yes, I read something recently funnily enough but can't remember where Embarrassed  The BT Spec. is wide enough to drive a Bus through just like their acceptable limits for BB speed  Roll_eyes
I'll see if I can find it later sometime.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

So openreach engineer has been and tested my line for any faults regarding my slow speeds at peak time they found no fault with the line so issue has to be plusnet.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

Thanks for letting me know that the engineer has been. I'm collating all of the information as part of investigating the issues which you are experiencing at peak times.
We've essentially ruled out anything physically causing an issue which narrows this down. We'll be in touch when we know more.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

Touch wood but my peak time latency seemed to disappear last night due to my Max Premium service being switched back on.  Will see how it is tonight whilst I'm gaming.

Openreach did confirm to me that there is no capacity issues so that rules that out exchange status was showing as green.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

@ Jamesanstee - Was that the engineer telling you that? If it was, I would take what he said with a pinch of salt.
If you look at the BT Infinity forums, there are lots of threads similar to those on here about peak time slow downs:
http://community.bt.com/t5/BT-Infinity/Leics-congestion/td-p/789770
Seems to be an issue in BT's network somewhere.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

Or same make/standard of hardware that's used by both BT and Plusnet?Huh

Re: Peak time latency spikes

I still have a gut feeling that it will be BT's backhaul network (i.e. their network that connects the exchanges to the 'supernodes', rather than the exchanges themselves)
But of course, no way to prove it.. Sad

I did take a look at the documentation surrounding the VP (Virtual Path) and it was indeed showing as Green.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

Connection starting to slow down again not too bad at the moment but will be keeping an eye on it.

Ok here - going to run tests every 30 mins to compare performance.
