Hi ashworth50,
Do you mind posting the link to that by any chance? I've found a few, but I'm wondering if they have a big collective thread about it hidden somewhere. If so, I'd like it posted here for transparency Smiley

Re: Plusnet YouView TV now available to FTTC customers at just £5 a month

I haven't heard about problems with Netflix and Youview, as it happens my daughter just persuaded me to start a 30 day trial (due to the school holidays starting) and she's spent the best part of 2 whole days watching 2 seasons of a particular series and I don't think it's paused or buffered once (certainly not that I've seen and she hasn't complained - not like her if there was a problem) so, if there's a problem for some, it certainly isn't a problem for everyone.

Must admit that I haven't had problems, but I'd still like to point this to the correct person if needs be. Personally, I've been working through It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia this last couple of weeks and wondering why I never started watching it earlier  Grin

Thanks for the reports.
I've noted this down, though I don't think we've had any particular reports from Plusnet customers just yet (I see that you don't have TV with us at the moment).

Re: Plusnet YouView TV now available to FTTC customers at just £5 a month

Hi Matty
No I don't get tv through Plusnet at the moment as I already have a You View box I bought through a retail outlet and am waiting to see if I can get Plusnet tv through my box instead of Plusnet supplying me with a box and if this is possible how much will it cost and how reliable will it be (ref my earlier question about Netflix). I have asked these questions via Plusnet Help & Support but as yet no one has bothered to reply!

Re: Plusnet YouView TV now available to FTTC customers at just £5 a month

I called to order YouView from PlusNet this morning, only to find it is NOT available to users who do not also have line rental with PlusNet.
I couldn't find any mention of that on the https://www.plus.net/tv/ page. Surely a major omission, if this is a requirement which means that those of us with our line rental elsewhare cannot get the service?

Hi Jaggies
Just read your post, if you want my opinion forget You View from Plusnet as I have been having problems with You View and also trying to get information from Plusnet. I have contacted Plusnet and You View many times and can't get answers from either of them.

Re: Plusnet YouView TV now available to FTTC customers at just £5 a month

Hi ashworth50,
What's the issue you're having? I've looked at your account but there's nothing about YouView being queried there so I'm a bit confused as to where you've asked these queries?
If it's the question of whether you can use your own YouView box for Plusnet TV, then the answer is no I'm afraid.

I couldn't find any mention of that on the https://www.plus.net/tv/ page.

It's toward the bottom of the page (see attachment).
Technically I can't imagine any possible requirement for the telephone line rental to be with Plusnet in order for the TV service to work so, [cynic] I assume this is a backdoor 'incentive' to get more customers paying (allegedly) overpriced line rental [/cynic].

Re: Plusnet YouView TV now available to FTTC customers at just £5 a month

Hi Chris
That answers one question, though I don't see why I can't use my own box. My other question was about You View problems with Netflix not working correctly. I did send Matty some info about this.

Re: Plusnet YouView TV now available to FTTC customers at just £5 a month

I've had a look at the thread about Netflix, and there really aren't that many posts on there that make me think it's an overly common problem. I've also not heard of anyone using YouView TV from Plusnet having that issue.
Using our box means we can provide support, engineers where required etc for the service.

Re: Plusnet YouView TV now available to FTTC customers at just £5 a month

Hi Chris
I don't know when you looked on the link I sent but I have to disagree when you say there aren't that many posts, I only started asking about this problem about three weeks ago and the number of people who have the same problem who have posted must be into double figures already, and that's only on one website. The number of complaints has grown to such an extent that You View, unlike Plusnet, have admitted that there is a problem and are now looking into it.
Just a final note, what happened to Plusnet's great customer service? we never used to get fobbed off with ' it's not that big a problem and anyway you didn't get the box off us so tough!!'
