Re: VAT Increase & Price Changes - January 2011

Why not keep your broadband with Plusnet, but move your phone to another supplier e.g. BT and use 0844 numbers etc?

Re: VAT Increase & Price Changes - January 2011

Hi,
I'm trying to get the the contract upgraded to Talk Anytime for my mother in law, as mentioned in the FAQ, which I did for myself, the option is not listed, the FAQ clearly states I have until the 4th of Jan, so I thought I could leave it until today to do, so why is the option not there? Please can you advise ASAP.
Maria
Here is the quote from the FAQ:
$I don’t want to lose my included international minutes, what can I do?
If you’re an Talk Evening and Weekends customer and you’re concerned about losing your international call allowance then there are two options available to you. The first is to request an account change to our existing Talk Anytime package. This must be requested *before* midnight on the 4th January. The existing Talk Anytime product offers 300 included minutes to the top 20 international destinations, and will continue to do so after the changes on the 4th January (although new customers will not be able to sign up to it after this date). Alternatively you could change to the new Talk Anytime package that will be available from the 4th January. This product will feature a 25% discount off the cost of calls to the top 20 international destinations and the call plan is slightly cheaper. You can register your interest in the new Anytime package here.

@maccallum, You will need to rays a ticket on your mother in law's account, you can not do it from your account.
Hope this helps

Re: VAT Increase & Price Changes - January 2011

To expand on what Midnight Caller explained, the section of the FAQ quoted was updated on 16th December 2010 due to a decision to bring launch date for the new Anytime product forward to 17th December 2010. The section now reads
[quote=http://community.plus.net/vat_faq/#9]
# I don’t want to lose my included international minutes, what can I do?

Update: Because the new Anytime package is now launching on the 17th December, customers will no longer be able to use our website to request an upgrade to the older Anytime offering (the one that features 300 included minutes to the top 20 international destinations). Despite this, we will still allow customers to move to this product if they get in touch *before* 4th January. If you would like to do this then please raise a support ticket here and request that we ‘upgrade your account to the legacy Talk Anytime package with 300 included minutes to international destinations’. To avoid any confusion, you might also want to include a link to this FAQ.
If you want to move to the new Talk Anytime product then you can request that via our website here as opposed to using the pre-registration link above.

Re: VAT Increase & Price Changes - January 2011

What really annoyed me is that the PlusNet email (03/12/2010) was titled "WE ARE FREEZING BROADBAND PRICES" , only to later say that the international calls are going, the 25% is also to follow and phone line rental goes up more than 50p...all of which should not only cover the "freezed" broadband VAT increase but actually help the company make more money on top of it...I thought PlusNet told it as it is but then again, I was apparently wrong.
As for me: no, I ain't paying a fiver more a month (no way!) and I'm going back to using Telediscount.com for my international phonecalls which by the way is 1p per minute (300mins x 1p/min = £3...it isn't rocket science)

Re: VAT Increase & Price Changes - January 2011

Hoping to catch Bob Pullen's attention:
My request via Bob's link to switch from the OLD £% Anytime package to the new £3-50 Anytime sans 300 Minutes Package was NOT actioned and I have been Billed £5 on 6 January 2010. I raised a ticket and got a glib response that the change will be applied from 6 February 2011.
NOT GOOD ENOUGH! I would like the £5 refunded promptly.  Angry
This applies to my account and Two of ny Referral accounts,

I've trawled this thread and cannot, at a reasonable glance, see an answer to my question here - or in the FAQs.
I'm an Unlimited subscriber - and it doesn't seem I go much above 30gb - so Extra would work.
However.
Arguments about disproportionate price rises aside, I have racked up the best part of a year of free broadband via your "3 months free Broadband when you recommend scheme"...
This is applied to my account as a referral discount, yet the FAQ suggests that that discount values will remain the same. Does this apply here? (Bearing in mind if the additional £5 was not discounted, my broadband would no longer be free...)
Clearly if my broadband is free - I'm unlikely to shift product. Yet.

As I suspected, the price for my legacy Unlimited package has increase, whereas my "Free Broadband Special Discount" has not increased to match it. If you are on a legacy product and had this incentive, I'd double check your invoice, folks.
Will the incentive billing fiascos ever end?

I can see that Joanne has already refunded you the difference (£1.50). Not sure if she's done the same for your referrals, tickets should be raised on those accounts if you/your referrals haven't done so already.

Sorry about this! The system still has a 100% discount applied to your account, although for some reason it's not recognising that the baseline price has increased. I've tried cancelling the discount and applying it manually, however the system thinks I'm trying to add a discount that's greater than the recurring cost of your subscription (so throws an exception). I've raised an internal problem to have this looked into (ref: 65325). In the meantime I'll wait for your payment to clear and manually process a refund.

Okay, thanks for looking into it, Bob.
I'll keep an eye on my invoices in the short term.
