You are wrong!
I have just opened Chrome, logged in to the community forums with it set at an hour, closed Chrome, restarted it, gone back to these forums and I was still logged in.
Do you have your browser set to delete cookies when it is closed?

Yes, I do .... and yes Pierre, I do run CCleaner on close down at night.!..
BUT... this still has nothing to do with the points I have made...
There is a requirement to use the check box on the forum to stay logged in for longer than an hour....yet there is not any requirement on the member centre or webmail.... where I would have thought that kind of "security" would be important.

I understand what you are saying, Shutter, but it's such a minor point that I can't understand why you get so worked up about it.
Personally, when I first registered for the community forums I opted to stay logged on permanently. I have never had to log on again since.
With the Member Centre I have auto-login enabled. I have no experience of webmail.
Having said that, I enjoy browsing and occasionally participating in the forums but doubt that I have ever spent more than an hour here at any one time

I think I understand it.
The stay logged in option relies on cookies. Shutter deletes the cookies when he closes the browser, he then complains that the stay logged in option does not work.

No.... Not complaining.... just querying WHY there is a requirement to tick the box to use the Forum......
when there is NO requirement to tick the box to enter the Members area....or Webmail... . where personal info is available.. but the page automatically logs you out on closure of the page/shutdown of computer. If there is no need for it from a security point of view, on these two pages.,... why can`t the forum pages be automatically logged out when you close the page or shutdown ?
there seems to be a discrepency in the "security aspects"
It has nothing to do with whether I decide to clear cookies at the end of every days use of the computer...

The forum is driven by SMF which has a login process including time to stay logged in. Changing that would require customisation, not something to be done unless essential. I would vote to leave it as it is.
