Re: Authentication error on community - are you affected?

I think the BBC player is flash based. Firefox blocks flash now unless a user explicitly allows it in their browser to use flash. Googling 'Firefox blocks flash' yeilds a lot of information about this and this has been going on for over a year now.

Ubuntu's repo's updated this afternoon, and has Firefox v47.0 available. Cool

I now have Firefox v47.0 installed on ONE machine, but will keep my other PCs on older Firefox releases for being able to assist with comparative testing.

Re: Authentication error on community - are you affected?

Afternoon Everyone

As FireFox has upgraded to version 47 the issues most people were experiencing appear to have ceased.

Can you guys please let me know if you are still seeing issues and where they are appearing etc? Thanks

It's a tad presumptuous to assume that the concurrences have ceased Louisa.  Will certainly be monitoring the situation for a while yet.

Re: Authentication error on community - are you affected?

I did say 'appear' to have ceased @MauriceC and this was based on the lack of noise on this thread, post the v47 release. It's also why I've reached out to ask for you to flag any issues post release.

Thanks

Re: Authentication error on community - are you affected?

I appreciate where you're coming from Lisa - but!   The 'noise' level decreased after the long debate that it was FF46 as the route of all the authentication problems and the response of "Wait for FF47".  At that point there was limited relevance in reporting further incidents, I certainly didn't bother.  Now that FF47 has been released it is important to monitor and report any future incidents.

And that is exactly what we are doing. As Louisa said, if you use Firefox (or a modified version that you prefer) and you get an authentication error, please let us know but also tell us what version of FF you are using. If you are using FF V46 we recomend updating to the latest V47.

I haven't had any problems since updating to V47 but I am just one user. It's worth noting that users who downgraded their FF to V45 did not have these issues so this is indicative that something introduced in V46 of FF was impacting the community.

It's important that we still keep our eye on the matter as we aren't just going to close this down until we are confident that problem has rectified itself with a browser update.

@MauriceC it's Louisa not Lisa Wink

We fully intend to monitor this and keep checking and it's something @jaread83 and I will keep catching up on every couple of days, until we're confident it's sorted. We would also confirm we you guys that you're happy it's sorted too.

Re: Authentication error on community - are you affected?

Maybe lack of noise is due to people not visiting as frequently after all the issue was not repeatable on demand, it was somewhat random.
A "tad" presumptive indeed I thought I made it quite clear in message 96 that I wasn't using FF let alone FF 46 @LouisaMartin !

Re: Authentication error on community - are you affected?

I added your message into Lithium @Anotherone as you stated you weren't using FF and as far as they're concerned they feel there is an issue and it's being investigated. Ta

Re: Authentication error on community - are you affected?

If Lithium have not been investigating this issue and are solely relying on a browser update then the moment it occurs again they will come in for some heavy criticism!
