Community Feedback Survey

Re: Community Feedback Survey

Has a decision been made on the life of this survey? I, like others delete cookies when I close my browser, so seeing this at every login has become tedious. There was talk of if being turned off / then on but unless I've missed something...

Re: Community Feedback Survey

It would be interesting to see what results the survey has delivered so far?  Undecided

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

Re: Community Feedback Survey

@MauriceC - In message 13 @LouisaMartin says that it may be able to run for a month then off for two but would be dependent on the volume of replies. So, if after all this time the survey is still running does that not mean there hasn’t been enough replies provided to allow it to be turned off. With the amount of traffic this site sees it implies that no one is interested in completing it so the survey is a waste of time.

However, if replies provided are of no real use then I take from that that people are treating it with contempt so again it is a waste of time. I really would like to see an end to this so I think Plusnet should consider cutting their losses on this.

Re: Community Feedback Survey

I'll ask the Oracle @Anonymous

Superuser citation

This topic has been cited by one of the Superusers; the purpose of which is to provide a note for information which might help to focus continued discussion (but might not result in a staff response).

Re: Community Feedback Survey

@MauriceC  -The fact that you have asked and apparently not been provided with an answer as @rongtw suggests, speaks volumes about the internal workings of Plusnet. Surely it must be within someone’s remit to make a decision on this.

Either that or they don’t want to remove it because it would imply that my logic is in fact correct and the survey is a complete waste of bandwidth.

I think the solution for this is to either stop deleting the cookies, or stop closing your browser.

Re: Community Feedback Survey

No, why should I.

Edit:- I am not asking for this to be closed for my convenience, I am in fact questioning it's justification for it still being there after so long.

Re: Community Feedback Survey

Am I missing something obvious - but I assume in the underlying database there is a user table?

Then all it would require is a bit field in said table called something like 'AllowSurveys', 0 or 1.

People who don't want it it'll be set to 0 of course - then the code will check that and not bother them?

Why it relies on cookies stored on local devices is beyond me. Some people don't want or like them, which is fair enough. It sounds like what should be quite a simple task is made far more complicated.

Re: Community Feedback Survey

Maybe plusnet has signed a contract with the survey "geniuses" and just like their own customers can't get out of it without paying a penalty.

I'm hard pressed to think of any other reason for this nonsense to continue.

Re: Community Feedback Survey

It'll be about making some "engagement" stats look good.

I didn't even know the survey was still going on until this thread was resurrected.

Re: Community Feedback Survey

I'm really not sure why this is such issue; I agree pop-ups, especially surveys, can be annoying but it only takes a few seconds to close it.
