Yep, with Jim on this one.
R&R was rarely used well.  Easier for people to identify the correct place to post in this new format (clearly I would say that!).
I never liked the name either.
There are no child forums.  Only Boards (headings) and Forums.

Well, can easily accept comments about R&R and glad there are no child boards.
Only other thing is that I really like the tag system and it would be useful in the case of OSs e.g. thread title Windows/Mac/Linux.
Does this take a lot of programming time to institute? If so, I can see the reason for not having it as you are busy enough as it is.

If you can find a mod that does what you have in mind I'm sure PN would consider adding it.

dont like joining the two type of phone, not being a Voip user I just skip that area and some bore me silly, surely both get enough custom to have their own sections

I'm not so sure (we can always change this later though!).
We get a lot of threads going into the wrong forum which I've hoped that by having a shared one, that won't happen as mch.
But like I say, it can always be changed again.

Thats a good addition - its always been a pet hate of mine to open a post just to find its a link to another post, and and not even an except or opinion on an article.
At least I can ignore them collectively!

What i would have liked was a News/Announcements Section where Plusnet and the moderators could post announcements and replies by normal users would be allowed but they would not be able to create new threads,
This would give us a clear place where new announcements would be found and also the subsequent discussions.

Attached are the options are the standard SMF security options you can set for each forum. As you can see you could have Post new topics unset and Post replies to topics. It would take someone with admin rights all of 30 seconds to make that change to the existing Product / Service Announcements forum.

Agreed - I already checked although I am not sure if I have the necessary rights to do it.
However this discussion is presently about the new layout and I don't think Plusnet staff would be too chuffed at me unilaterally changing the permissions on the existing forum

If you ever got fed up with moderating it would be a quicker way out than making a resignation post first to Plusnet and the other moderators and then to the forums.

For what it's worth, I've opened a poll and discussion thread in General Chit-Chat specifically about the 'News Items' board - so if anyone has any thoughts/feelings about the idea and hasn't already aired them could they please do so there. Thanks.

I'd like to see Testimonials split into 2 categories - Positive & Negative.
Currently, only positive reviews are under the testimonials, fair enough, however, I don't agree that some negative testimonials are placed under Rants & Raves as this implies: If you say that someone rants, you mean that they talk loudly or angrily, and exaggerate or say foolish things. I know there is many posts in that section which deserve to be in that section fitting the definition, however, there are some posts which are written politely and intelligently, providing valuable feedback on their experience, its just that they are negative in nature. This kind of feedback deserves to be in testimonials so long as it isn't abusive, derogatory for the sake of, etc.
Just my opinion
