Display name not used for wordpress comments

Granted we can choose usernames which are distinct from our ISP Usernames, however we can also change display names.
It appears wordpress uses the account name to associate with comments though.
Wouldn't it be more sensible to use the SMF display name field for tagging comments?

I think changing this will involve lots of code hacking, so U would imagine it's unlikely to be done.

I agree with Colin, because it's two different platforms (although they have been sorta sandwhiched together) it would probably cause more problems than it's worth.
Maybe a hack around the 'net somewhere already though, so get digging Cap'n Jack!
