Does community.plus.net support DMARC properly?

Does community.plus.net support DMARC?

Every notification email I get from community.plus.net has dmarc=fail (although spf=pass and dkim=pass)

All other emails that I receive don't suffer from this problem.

I don't understand much about DMARC - but doesn't it act as a check that the SMTP envelope sender and the actual sender match?

Perhaps Plusnet are sending from a different domain than plus.net?

DMARC fails because the return path is not aligned:-

Return-Path: <bounces+13614266-f56d-localpart=domain.tld@em7732.eu.khoros-mail.com>

Whilst this is probably fixable at Khoros' side, it shouldn't make much real-world difference because no DMARC policy is being declared anyway:-

dmarc=fail (p=NONE sp=NONE dis=NONE)

Re: Does community.plus.net support DMARC properly?

I use protonmail which does check DMARC (if present) - it puts a fat red banner on each Plusnet email that says:

“This email has failed its domain’s authentication requirements. It may be spoofed or improperly forwarded!”

Admittedly, it's only a warning - but only Plusnet get it wrong. 😬

Fair point. Whilst the policy dictates that the recipient shouldn't quarantine/spam the email, it doesn't mean they can't still display warnings.

It's definitely not only Plusnet that 'get it wrong' though.

I'm not sure of the process for raising stuff through to Khoros these days. Perhaps @JonoH can advise? Happy to help out and craft some copy for the support ticket.

Thanks for that @bobpullen grab me when you've got a second and we can raise something to Khoros together.
