Horizontal scroll bar - hidden text

On many of the posts I read, I have to move the horizontal scroll bar just a quarter inch to the right in order to see the hidden text at the end of sentences.  Is this necessary and can it be altered please?

Are you by any chance using Internet Explorer 6?

I’m running at 1900*1200 @ 120 DPI with IE7 and if I ‘grab’ the right edge of the IE window and very slowly move it left or right, at certain points both a vertical and horizontal scroll bar will flick on. Move a tiny fraction further and they will flick off again. I would think the OP is suffering from this strange behaviour.
Don’t know why it happens but a bit of fine adjustment usually flicks them off and restores normal browsing.

My screen is 1680 x 1050 and I just did a quick experiment. These are the window widths where I can see the problem with IE7. Note that I also usually see it at one pixel less than these values
945, 970, 995
1020, 1045, 1070, 1095
1120, 1145, 1170, 1195
1220, 1245, 1270, 1295
1320, 1345, 1370, 1395
1420, 1445, 1470, 1495
1520, 1545, 1570, 1595
1620, 1645, 1670

My screen is 1280 x 1024 and I am using IE7.
