Re: Removing an attachent

Am I missing something or misunderstanding the issue (I definitely misunderstood originally but I think I get it now).
In the above post I clicked 'Reply', typed 'Testing again...', expanded 'Additional Options and Attachments', clicked 'Choose File', selected a 'random' image file (koala.jpg from the Windows 'Sample Pictures' folder), clicked 'Open' in the windows folder dialogue - at this point the file shows next to the Choose File button (see attachment).
Next I clicked again on 'Choose File' - the same windows dialogue appears as when first adding the file (second attachment), I then simply clicked 'Cancel' (attachment 3) in this dialogue and the screen no longer showed any file attached (4th attachment), the result being the post above with no attachment.
[Edit] missed the 'preview' step but just edited the post above and did the same including preview after attaching with the same result.

Just happened to be the random picture I selected. [pedant] It's not a bear though, it's a marsupial [/pedant]  Wink

Testing again....

How it would have been if I couldn't remove the attachment...

Re: Removing an attachent

I'll have to look at this again when I'm not on a mobile.

Re: Removing an attachent

@w23 What browser are you using? I am using FF 38.0.1 but it has been the same for previous versions.
As I said earlier I have a "Browse..." button after expanding Additional Options and Attachments...
Doing as you do in reply #15 never cancels the attachment whether previewed first or not.

Re: Removing an attachent

Currently using chrome in Windows 7, pretty sure I tried this on my old laptop running Windows Vista but that could have been Chrome, Palemoon or IE.
I'll just give it a go with IE on my W7 PC.

Re: Removing an attachent

It doesn't work (can't 'detach' attached file) with IE11!

Another question, how come you have "Choose file" while I have "Browse..."?

Wink
Just checked using latest version of IE and that works (or doesn't) the same as FF.

Sorry I missed that before or I would have replied, honest!

So, why is it different with Chrome?  Huh

I have no idea but hope someone might know.
I wonder how deleting attachments in other browsers like Opera, Safari, etc. work under the above circumstances and what does the button say in those?

You are quite correct of course  Tongue Wink
And the answer to Opera is yes, it's similar to Chrome (fork of Chrome code), it says, "Choose file" and one can be removed simply by w23's method.
Can't do it with Palemoon, was already using that (fork of Firefox code)!
Currently using Opera, the Koala has been added and removed.
Crazy
Edit: can't do it with K-Meleon either (another fork of Firefox)
