Search results listing errors

Been looking for a post from way back when and got 135 results.

The page counter at the bottom of the list only ever indicates the next page until all pages have been displayed
After the above clicking any of the lower page numbers or 'previous' displays the same page

I then sought to refine the search an got just 3 results, I then changed that search to look for ones by a given author and got none, which is odd looking for posts by Bob Pullen within Email ... but the 9 page counter ribbon still appears along with the 3 previous results.
