But then, idk how PN is load balancing community, other than i know its on a different server (farm?) to the portal

Four servers load balanced across our two Sheffield data centres.

Regarding pictures the problem isn't the uploading it is what happens next
This picture uploaded at full speed but then the forum sat there for about 15 secs before posting

That's something I've noticed too, I can't for the life of me remember what the conclusion was the last time we looked at it though?
@Matt_2k34, can't say any of the guys here have noticed the problems you're reporting and we obviously use the forums a *lot*. As Kelly has mentioned, there are sporadic database time-outs on occasion, but they're pretty infrequent (we've no update on that issue BTW as it's yet to be picked up by one of our engineers).

Nope, i totally understand that Bob -- I'm just at a loss as to what the problem is.
Perhaps "still sucking" was a little harsh, it has been *much* better since the start of the thread (for whatever reason)  but im still getting (less frequently) the "Click post and waiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit" which times out (but i never let it get that far just copy the text out and start over, and job done)
Its more annoying than anything - particularly on long replies or edits where ive made a total hsah of tpynig!  Grin
its quite possible that its down to the db timeouts, but i wouldnt of put money on it

Re: Slow, sluggish and buggy?

We might have a DNS problem to one of the DBs.  It's been worked on.

Re: Slow, sluggish and buggy?

I have noticed recently that clicking on the new post icon often doesn't work and can take several goes and even then sometimes doesn't do anything

Re: Slow, sluggish and buggy?

It's something happening to all the servers and all traffic going over the network interfaces on their network cards.  We see little blips in the monitoring.  Lots of clues but no causes yet.

No error pages here just not as responsive.

Re: Slow, sluggish and buggy?

Right.  Matt (one of our sysops) is adding a bandaid to hopefully prevent all the freezing we've been seeing.  We now know what's going wrong, but not what's causing it.
That should mean you shouldn't see this anymore.  Let me know if you after today.

Re: Slow, sluggish and buggy?

That's good.  This is only a bandaid, although one we could keep in place indefinitely if we need to.  I want to get t the bottom of it though
