What is the point of removing a blank post

The user had posted a reply with a link to faults.plus.net then decided to delete their content after posting. Users can't delete posts but can just as easily delete the content anyway. This leaves a blank post which isn't really useful. I think its just standard practice to leave a message with details of what has happened so anyone seeing it will know why a post was removed. I reported the blank post for the mods to take a look and move it out of the thread.
I would suggest that if anyone were to double-post or create a post and then have it removed (for whatever reason) - simply report your own post and ask for it to be removed.
