Wrong timestamp

Just noticed this in the 'Home Phone' Topics list - at 2340 on 12 June:

Re: Wrong timestamp

That is also the time stamp I see on your post too.

An off the wall idea - can you please double check the date and time zone of your device, as the post above is also dated 11:48pm (later tonight)!!  That said your further post this morning has a time stamp of earlier today!

One would hope that the system uses server side time stamps - but this is a Lithium solution so there is some possibility it took a client side time! Wink

There is though also some possibility that one of the servers in their server farm has the wrong date!!!

Re: Wrong timestamp

Thanks @Townman

All OK with my PC clock, time zone, DST setting etc.

I favour your latter suggestion - maybe the date is changing at 2300 instead of 0000.

Messages #11 and #12 in this thread would appear to support that theory - the date changes between 10:59 and 11:02PM.

Same here - Messages #53 and #54.

Re: Wrong timestamp

I'd hazard a guess that (at least) one of the servers has been set with an inconsistent time zone?

Re: Wrong timestamp

Well if that is the case then it implies it’s out of synch with the others and may well explain some of the other issues we see around here.

If the server is using a clock that’s an hour out to process timestamps for cookies, posts, sessions, etc then this could cause issues when they’re handled by another server using the correct time, and vice versa of course, by expiring a session it thinks is an hour ahead of its time.

Could well be @Anonymous    Evil  it's surely a high contender!  We've got the haystack, just need to find the needle?

@JonoH

Can you please get Lithium to check out the theory here please?

Re: Wrong timestamp

Posts 53 to 54 the DATE changes from 15 to 16 whilst the time advances a little 10pm to 11pm.

Go to page 2 of that topic and the time stamps are 16th at 7AM!

Re: Wrong timestamp

@JonoH

That was a real tease!  I guess that when they come back saying they cannot reproduce it / identify the cause you can point them to the possibility of inconsistent date / time settings, be that different time zone / DST settings or simply pointing at a different time server.  It would not be the first time that such an issue has caused no end of mischief in multi platform solutions!!

@Gandalf has learnt to bend light - if support can find out what bit of the service he was connected to just before midnight it might help them focus their investigations...
