All globalnet mail disappeared with Mac Catalina upgrade

Help, please!
I just upgraded to OS Catalina on my MacPowerbook and all my emails have disappeared (globalnet inbox, masses of sub mailboxes etc). Panic!
I tried to 'add account' for globalnet in Mail but I get this message:
Password could not be sent to “smtp.globalnet.co.uk” securely
Mail cannot send your password securely to the server. You can continue without a secured password, which could put your password at risk.
Do you want to continue without a secured password?
Apple Help say I need to contact Plusnet to resolve this. They say that 'there might be a compatibility issue between the globalnet server and the Mail app from Catalina'.
I assume that I shouldn't continue without a secured password.
How can I link my globalnet account to Mail again and get my emails back, please?

Hiya @lr, thanks for getting in touch. I am sorry for the issues you're having with your mail.
When resetting the account up, just select 'yes' for setting up without a secure password and this should work. If you are concerned about the security however, then you can use the Plusnet servers found here and use SSL.

Phew! Thanks very much for that @LaurenB. I can now email from my Mac so that's a huge relief.
Next question: how do I restore all the mailboxes that were on my Mac and have now vanished…?

Update – the missing mailboxes turned out to be a Mac/Mail/upgrade problem. Apple Support talked me through restoring the mailboxes from my Time Machine backup, so all is good now.
