Following a full reset of Windows 11 (full re-install from M/S cloud) on my other desktop PC. (I'm using a laptop currently with no Plusnet e-mail problems.) Setting up a new Thunderbird account or my desktop PC and checking all the data it fails to set-up because the password is not recognised. Likewise if I try to use Plusnet webmail on my desktop PC I cannot login, again because the password fails. However on the laptop the webmail and the Thunderbird account works fine using exactly the same data. Can anyone please suggest what could be wrong, or has anyone had the same problem?

I use Linux not Windows, but when I do an operating system re-installation on one of my PCs, instead of setting up Thunderbird from scratch I copy the ".thunderbird" folder from another machine and use it to replace the folder on the newly set up one.
I don't know, but maybe this will also work with Windows? ie copy the Thunderbird data folder from your laptop and use it to replace the same folder on your desktop.
.

That is the way TB themselves recommend - and it should work, @Mr_Paul - although with the 'new' versions of Windows, who knows? 😉

It does work with W|in 11 , its just a little more involved to discover the correct profile directory on Windows

The profile copy doesnt include passwords though...

Strange, @MisterW - when I copied from my W7 machine to the Linux one, my passwords were there - or is that because they came across from my Firefox account?

Possibly, I never store passwords in Firefox
