When I attempt to email the log from my netgear D6400 modem router to my email account on plusnet plusnet, it fails with the message:
[email failed] Polite people say HELO first
It worked up until 19th October 2021 but now does not.
Im the netgear router you have the option of:
Server (smtp.plus.net) - also tried relay.plus.net unsuccessfuly
Port - 587
And password/username.
So, any ideas?
This used to work perfecly and was handy for making all was working correctly.

Well, thank you, that worked.
It has to be port 25 and relay.plus.net - port 587 results in the email being bounced back to the router.
The router has had "authentication" set since "day one" some 5 years ago so.... why has it changed? It just stopped working back in October.

Afraid I can't answer your question, after trying many options I found that this setting works....
