Outlook 365 email client can't access plusnet email account using IMAP

I cannot access my Plusnet inbox after changing to a new PC and updating to office 365. The previous version of outlook was relatively recent.

I have followed all of the settings on the plusnet support page i.e.

Incoming - IMAP port 993, imap.plus.net , STARTTLS encryption, unclicked additional password auth box, configured via Control panel which allows you to set plusnet username incl + mailbox and password. outgoing settings as per guidance.

Tried removing account to clear any old passwords and restarting.

after hitting connect request to server times out, with a no response from server message.

Is this a fundamental incompatibility between 365 and Plusnet mail server?

@redkite21 There is no 'incompatibility' between  365 and the Plusnet servers, but from what I have read on this forum, setting 365 up is not 'simple'. Sorry I can't help further - I do not use MS products, but maybe @Townman  or @MisterW  may be able to assist?

@redkite21  as @jab1 says , there is no incompatibility.

However the incoming settings should be  - IMAP port 993, imap.plus.net , SSl/TLS encryption ( Not STARTTLS )

The outgoing settings should be SMTP , relay.plus.net, port 587, STARTTLS

The mail configuration guide is not clear that the encryption settings for incoming and outgoing are not the same.

Also Outlook guesses the settings and makes a hash of it.

changing incoming to TLS/SSL fixed + one other typo I noticed :-(.
