What does "White/Blacklist filtering does not apply to catch-all mailboxes" mean?
I have several whitelist entries. I also have my main email address as the catch-all. Does this mean I can use the whitelist or not? It's a normal main email address AND a catch-all.

@sunnyrio Welcome to the Community forums.
I don’t use Plusnet email but my assumption is that if you have catch all enabled then a blacklisted message addressed to a none existent address would not be blocked. Personally I have catch all turned off so that no incorrectly addressed messages are accepted.

A correct assumption, @Baldrick1 .

So if it's sent to the actual address I'm using for a catchall (which is also my normal main address), then the blacklist and whitelist takes effect?
I use catchall so I can use many email addresses and they all come to me. I just change the name before the @. Never had anything addressed to anything other than email addresses I've used, because presumably spammers don't make up addresses.

If it is sent to 'anynameyoulike'@yourname@plus.com, it will arrive in your catchall inbox - white/blacklisting does not operate on a catchall inbox.
And yes, spammers make up recipients names.

That's what I'm asking. My main inbox is a normal box ****AND**** a catchall. So, consider the following 2 scenarios:
Email to myactualname@myaccountname.plus.com, my proper email address.
Email to somethingelse@myaccountname.plus.com, which is picked up by catchall, and sent to myactualname@myaccountname.plus.com
Which of these operates the white and blacklists?

Never had a spammer make up an address. I only get spam to my two mainly used email addresses.

If your main email is the catchall as you say, it makes no difference - anything sent to anything@myaccountname .plus.com will go to your inbox - they are not two separate locations.

So the white and blacklist are disabled if the BOX is catchall? I thought it might operate on the catchall part, so if you email me normally, it gets white/blacklisted, but if you email a random address, it goes through the catchall system, and ignores my white/blacklist?
For example, a few forums get caught by Plusnet's spam filter, so I whitelist them. Those forums are sending to my real email address, so not going through catchall. I want those to get through, and AFAIK they do.
This really needs explaining better in the settings page, it's extremely ambiguous, and I think everyone in here is just guessing. Aren't there any staff in here who actually know? What happened to the good old days where you could open a query on the website and a tech worker would respond?

Correct - if your main email address is the one defined as the catch-all, anything which is sent to a name not associated with any of your other discrete addresses (or your main address) will end up in that mailbox - the catch-all is NOT a separate box.
The Help Team is sadly depleted and quiet, but I assure you I've had many years on the forum, and others, and after 30+ years, I think I know how the system works.

I know catchall is not a seperate box. But I want to know if "not whitelisting for catchall" means "if it's caught by the catchall rule" or "if it's going to a catch all box".
So, you email me at the named main address. I've whitelisted you. Does that whitelist take effect or not?
