app password needed

I'm trying to get my plus net E mails on to the new Outlook which came with my new (reconditioned) laptop on Windows 11. For POP accounts it says 'app password may be needed' and I can't proceed with setup. Any suggestions, please?

Re: app password needed

Seems slightly unusual with Microsoft, though very common with Google Mail (Gmail).

This should tell you how to do it: How to get and use app passwords - Microsoft Support

@hollyville

Have a look at this for the settings:

https://www.plus.net/help/email-guides/how-to-set-up-plusnet-email/

You probably want to use IMAP with Outlook (rather than POP)

The "app password" comment won't apply to email with Plusnet.

As a more general observation, if I were you I would think about using email from someone such as Microsoft (rather than Plusnet). The Plusnet email platform is a bit limited.

I am the satisfied customer....

Re: app password needed

Thank you for this. I do actually have an Outlook account for my personal E mail, but for historical reasons still use plus.com for businessy things. It seems like a huge effort to change all these.

Re: app password needed

No luck! The screen I get isn't like the one on the page - It has 'additional security' not Advanced and I can't scroll down to App passwords or find it anywhere.

Re: app password needed

E mail addresses now added successfully, thanks for your support. No app password needed after all, I just had to delete their ssuggested settings!
