Full Fibre installation location

I'm thinking of getting full fibre installed.

Current install runs down wall from roof, into property by front door, along the hall into living room.

For new install i'm thinking cable runs down from roof, around to the side, and inside above the junction box for my building (2 up/2 down flats). Adjacent double socket.

Can I use an extension cord for new install so one socket is left free? It's an adapted flat i'd rather not lose what would be all sockets along one side.

I'll need to get permission from landlord (upstairs has full fibre so shouldn't be a problem), they like drawings and details so ideally I need to know in advance where everything will go. I also lived with a nightmare install at my previous address which makes me very wary of the unknown.

It seems though from my research the engineer just turns up and maybe there is a discussion about where everything goes.

If you cjeckthe following does it say KCI2 to the right of WBC FTTP in the results window? Below the window what does the narrative say about the install?

Usually you don't find out until the day of install as to exactly what will be done. A good engineer will work with you if it's possible.

Thank you for the response, PlusNet are offering me Full Fibre so I have assumed it's available. 

Looking at where I'd like the cable to enter my upstairs neighbour has it going in the same spot. 

There is at least a fingers width to run the cable behind black double  cord of junction box.

If not it could go around the box, through a thicker single cable with more clearance than the double one, up and into where I'd like it to enter. 

So it looks like I'd have to apply for permission giving a drawing of where I think the cable will go in, cross my fingers and hope? 

It's not ideal having so little knowledge beforehand.

Thanks for the information.

KCI2 is used when a survey is required but is not mentioned. However "wayleave issues" is so obviously something needs to be signed off before an install is done.

I would image they would look to bring the fibre cable round the corner under the eaves before bringing it down to ground level. The problem might be where you wish it to enter the property.

From your picture are you expecting the external grey box (CSP) to be above the electricity meter and, if so, is this where you plan to come into the building.

Talk to your landlord first to see that they're happy with your plans and then submit the order. I don't know if it's you or OpenReach who sort the wayleave out but you'll have talked to the landlord so they'll know.

Extension sockets are fine for power - the ONT doesn't care. The router is connected via ethernet cable so can go anywhere you're happy to run said cable.

Yes I'd anticipate the CSP to be above the electrical box and would submit the plan to landlord as such.

If approved I would get written permission. 

It makes sense to me coming through to be beside the double socket.

As shown in the second photo first post, this corresponds to where upstairs has their CSP.

I admit I have no experience here but am raising this for comment:

As you are in a block of flats then this could mean that the building is considered a Multi Dwelling Unit (MDU) by Openreach. Do any of the other flats have Openreach FTTP? As I understand it, Openreach only require Wayleave once for an MDU and would presumably use the single fibre connection.

Either way, I believe it is the property owner that will need to sign the Wayleave declaration. More reading here: https://www.openreach.com/help-and-support/obtaining-wayleaves

I believe if you look at picture 2 in post #1 you'll see a brown CSP box. Though have said that It wouldn't be at that height would it.

However, it's where the OP thinks FTTP enters his upstaires neighbours premise

It looks nothing like the CSP that I have, which makes me wonder if this is an Altnet.
All that @Kimmy can do is get the landlords permission, have the landlords contact details in case Openreach ask for them, put in an order and see what happens.
