Leaving PlusNet

Well after 15 years with PN, I have bit the bullet and signed up with an Altnet. Went live last Friday 12th, getting 950 up and down for £25pm which is fixed for 2 years. PN Contact end in November so a bit of early release fee to pay, but the Altnet will credit my account with that.
Decided to go after looking at my renewal special of £27.99 + £3 each April.
Porting the landline number to A&A, started on Monday with a port of Friday. Used a temp number to set up my N300ip which I will now cancel.

Question, has anyone cancelled a line from A&A, how did you do it as I cannot see anywhere in the control panels.
Was a member for years, but moved from PN fttc to fttp from an AltNet. Getting 940Mb up and down. Happy to stay on here and try to help others. 

You have to request it via support. I'd be tempted to leave it until your landline number has ported sucessfully. There's no problem with having multiple numbers on the account.

Re: Leaving PlusNet

Just to report, got an email at 15:00 from A&A informing me that the port had been completed. Fired up my Sipnetic app. Rung my number, mobile phone rang.
A solid service by A&A.

Does anyone have an app (both iPhone and Android) that works great and does not eat the battery. Happy to have a paid for app.

TIA

I use Zoiper which is available for Android & IOS https://www.zoiper.com/en/products.

As to battery usage, I can't say as I rarely use it in a situation of being available for incoming calls without being on charge.

TBH I suspect any voip app is going to chew battery , since if the phone is behind NAT, the app is going to have to send 'keep-alive' packets and so is going to wake-up frequently.

Re: Leaving PlusNet

Just an update on the app for VOIP.

Went with groundwire, paid app in both stores. But a very nice email to the company got me a discount on one app.
Please to say both phones do not have any battery issues and the service on both so far has been positive.

@MisterW you must have been reading it when I was editing it straight after posting it. Autocorrect kicked in.
