One example of the "drop" is in my other post (which is possibly a better place for this conversation?) but I set the NAS to send emails when the syslog got an "error" level entry . I had a couple more. I've not seen any since I stopped some (I suspect CPU intensive) services and rebooted . Looking at you graph , the 11am today was me rebooting, a couple last night seems about right.
I want to leave this current setup (few services) running for a few days, to see if issue reoccurs . If it does, I'll try switching back to dual box setup (it's a little cumbersome as it means I have 3 or 4 boxes in tye hallway

all i can see is the amount of the disconnections from the router to the outside line , which shows the issue is with the router
