Thanks a lot for getting back to us Matt72.
I can't help but notice that the bulk of your disconnections are happening in the evening every day. Are you aware of anything being done in and around the property at this time? Repetitive Electrical Impulse Noise could be a factor here. For instance, if anything is occurring which generates electronic noise, it can affect your connection. There's no way to diagnose this without raising an initial fault with Openreach, but if you're able to diagnose this on your end, you may be able to resolve it sooner.

It should be noted thst this never happened, ever prior to subscribing to plusnet.
The obvious observation is that all of the family are present when this happens my wife is home using a laptop, desktop, mobile and tablet, during daytime. 1700 to 0800 weekday and all weekend, I and daughter are at home and we use devices.
We turned off each others mobile last night in succession with no effect.
I cannot identify any electrical product that I assume would affect the wifi, we have no microwave, BUT WE DO HAVE A VERY OLD PANASONIC WIRELESS PHONE SYSTEM, so old I have replaced the batteries twice.
****This is interesting, the increased disconnections do correlate with the relocation of router to nearer to the telephone charge base***
I will immediately ask my wife to disconnect its power to see if there is any effect.

Correct me if I'm wrong , but from the video , the router light looks to be going to green and then green flashing before then going to orange flashing before going back to blue . @Matt72 Is that correct ?
Going to green indicates a ROUTER reset rather than just a loss of synch. Is the router plugged into an extension block by any chance ?

It is not connected to an extension, but a splitter and as suggested I removed the face plate and connected wire to the socket behind.
Thanks MisterW

Yes you are correct about the lights and maybe I had not advised the video was post reset (top left button).
Ah! so you are resetting the router manually to get the connection back ?
Do the lights change in any way BEFORE you reset it ?

The cordless telephone base had been disconnected from the mains and handsets removed from the house. The wifi Internet connection ceased to work at 1814, the router light remained blue until I reset the device at 1824 Daughter was watching YouTube and I had clicked the cast button from mobile phone to the chromecast device just seconds before disconnection. I find that I am unable to access the router admin in this state .
Disconnection occurred again at 1901 whilst I continued to use chromecast. I disconnected the power to the chromecast and there were no further disconnections in the evening.

Hiya @Matt72, thanks for getting back to us. Things look to have been a lot more stable our side too:
It may be worth monitoring this over the next few days just to see how things go and get back to us should the issues continue.

In fact a very interesting occurrence happened as I and daughter returned home in the evening at 2040. As we approached the house, the disconnection occurred and only daughter had her wifi enabled on her A71 mobile phone.
We will try and positively identify her phone as the source.
Is it at all possible that a mobile phone wifi could disrupt the router in the way that ours has been ?
I have not factory reset the router, is this worth doing? If so, do I need to remember any information other than that on the rear of the device.

Hi @Matt72,
I'm sorry to see you've been having issues with the connection dropping out. I've had a look at the account today and I can see there had been disconnections last night, though from what we can see these occurred between 18:00 - 19:00. rather than around 20:40 as you've noticed. Additionally, whilst it isn't impossible for individual devices to cause disruption to the stability of the connection, I have doubts that your daughters mobile device is the main cause of the issue here. With that having been said, it would still be worth seeing how the network performs without the influence of the mobile device for a couple of days, to see if there is any correlation.
In regards to a factory reset, this would reset all the details within the router settings to their default name/state. If you've made any changes to the router settings, it may be worth making a note of what they are so that you can change them back if you wish to do so. With this particular fault, I can't think of any benefit to carrying out a factory reset at this time, but you're free to do so if you'd like.

Before I purchase a new router, can it be definitively confirmed that Plusnet does or does not have a firmware upgrade that fixes this problem.
