FTTP 500/75, download speed dropped since getting a static IP.

Hi Community,

 

Hoping you can help with this one, I currently have a ticket raised but struggling to get anywhere with it.

 

I got FTTP 500/75 just over a week ago and speeds were perfect, I had some issues trying to provision my static IP on my Plusnet account so I contacted support who were great and sorted it out. Since then my download speed has plummeted to 75Mb down but upload is still correct.

An openreach engineer came out today and spent around 2 hours with me looking into the issue and contact BT wholesale and got through to L2 support and they reprovisioned me with a new ONT, this didn't make any difference and to be honest I wasn't expecting it too.

I find it odd that as soon as the static IP went on the speeds were throttled. 

I have run speedtests through speedtest.net, fast.com and BT wholesale and they all come back the same please see attached, all this was done over ethernet direct to the hub and also bypassing the hub by setting up a PPPOE session directly from my Laptop into the ONT.

Anyone experienced the same sort of issue?

Try a disconnect/reconnect.

Whatever you have done has fixed the issue, what did you have to do?

Fix

Great stuff, will close the ticket for you.

At a glance, I suspect whatever was done to 'resolve' your static IP assignment issue resulted in your RADIUS profile not being built correctly at our side. I fixed this so it it is now correctly configured for the service you're paying for.
