Full fibre install

Hi we are due to have full fibre installed and am aware you need a double socket. We are unsure if it will come in through the ground or telegraph pole until the engineer arrives. We are also unsure where to mount the router as we have an extension meaning we have a thick external wall inside the house so were hoping the engineer will advise us where to put it. What I am asking is that we do not have many double sockets. Can both the items be run using an extension lead with a view to installing a double socket when the position has been decided? Thank you

@Debbyp69 How does your phoneline currently enter the property? The ONT will be installed on the internal wall at, or near, that point.

The main phone socket is in an upstairs bedroom (installed before we brought the property) and we have the router on the landing which faces the external which separates the extension so the signal is not great.

My worry was that the engineer would not be prepared to use the extension lead as a temporary measure and I do not want to get a double socket fitted until I am advised of the best location

OK - so you Full Fibre cable will be installed at ground level on that external wall - via the 'telegraph' pole.

Is your current landline supplied by an overhead or underground cable?

An external box (CSP) is fitted to the outside wall at ground level. There is then a bit of leeway as to where the internal box (ONT) is sited. Customer preference comes up against the physical possible. It potentally could be at ground or first floor level depending on your preference.

You speak to the engineer on the day.

The router is connected by an ethernet cable so can go where ever you're happy running said cable - whether on a temporary basis or not.

WiFi can be sorted out after you get the installation up and running.
