Openreach are slowly implementing FTTP availability, exchange by exchange round the country.
Currently my fibre connection is via an atrocious aluminium phone line from the FTTC cabinet.
When they get to my exchange does that mean they will replace ally with fibre to the pavement connection boxes ?
If so then having fibre right outside my house then a short length of copper to my master socket would surely give me the capability to run a 80Mbps connection?
My master socket is in the centre of the house and the pavement to master socket wire must have been installed during the house build behind plasterboard and round 2 corners, must be about 15 metres so very unlikely that could be changed easily.
In a similar vein, having a fibre wall box on the front of the house would mean a very difficult route to where the router is and hide the wire.
just thinking in advance.
Fixed! Go to the fix.

@Kremmen When you get FTTP, that is supplied over a completely different cable to new termination equipment within your property - unfortunately, AFAIK, they are not services you can 'mix'n'match' . The pavement connection boxes as such are no longer used.
Short answer, and I'm sure cleverer members will be along to provide clarity.

Yeah jab1’s correct in that even when the fibre is provided from the cabinet, you’ll still be on FTTC with the aluminium line until you ‘upgrade’ to FTTP, as the two services are connected to different equipment and infrastructure.
