Re: No improvement

@BO55

As standard, the rDNS name of you IP Address is currently your broadband username, you might want to get that changed

Re: No improvement

but I thought I would get more than the 32Mb I was getting on the 36Mb service.

@BO55 it doesnt work like that I'm afraid. Sync speed (and thus download speed) are limited either by the maximum for the product i.e 40Mb on the 36Mb service OR by the distance from the cabinet and line quality. So unless you are synching at the maximum 40Mb on a 36Mb service you will not get any increase when going to the Fibre extra product.

@BO55 i dont doubt that, and with your line estimates you OUGHT to be getting better speeds but what I'm saying is that just changing products won't increase speeds.

As I said earlier The question is why is the synch only 35Mb ?

It suggests a fault somwhere

Re: No improvement

@MisterW My thoughts too - but I can't see where - wonder if a current GEA would reveal anything?

Just noticed the SNR figures are missing from the Help Desk page - AND the xDSL uptime looks horribly low.

Re: No improvement

@jab1  yes a gea would show whether the low sync is due to the line being capped or not. Hopefully one of tte help team will oblige shortly...

Re: No improvement

Interestingly my speed has now increased to more like what I expected. The openreach engineer said this morning that I may lose connection when he closes the job. I had a text at 4:30 to say the job had now been closed. Or, The Help desk has done something.

7Mb faster than I've had for a few years

Re: No improvement

@BO55 Still looks to me like you are on a 40/10 setting, but hopefully one of the Help team will provide a GEA test to prove/disprove my theory.

Re: No improvement

Fix

Hi there,

I've taken a look into this for you and it looks like your line was reset automatically overnight, possibly after the engineer closed the job. Testing your line is showing your connection is on the right profile: "0.128M-80M Downstream, Retransmission Low - 0.128M-20M Upstream, Error Protection Off"

Yesterday it was "Downstream: 0.128M-35M with Retransmission (Low). Upstream: 0.128M-20M with no error protection"

I'll attach below a copy of the testing I've run but let me know if you've got further queries.
