Hi Guys
Looking for any advice, feels like between a rock and a hard place at the moment.
Up until couple weeks back I was FTTP 300, was rock solid past 3-4 years 320 down wired/wifi
Upgraded 3 weeks ago to. FTTP 900, since the upgrade wifi speeds have dropped to 150-220, on various devices,
wired around 450,
since last week had 3 engineers,
1st, engineer,
Resets router, connect his laptop to router gets around 450Mbps, then connects his mobile via wifi
gets 180Mbps,
Then goes on to say thats all wifi devices are capable of , I explain I was flat out no issues before updrade.
2nd engineer. (openreach). ( 5 days ago)
Resets router, connects his laptop wired to router gets 470Mps then his mobile gets 150Mps down,
spends an hour on phone to support , at the end says he has no idea why , as profile show. 940Mbps getting to router.
Turns around and says he has no idea whats going on, will report to his manager,
At this point openreach close case I get a new router ready for next visit,
3rd Engineer (openreach) (yesterday)
connect brand new router, no wireless devices connect accept when we want to test speed.
Comes in and says not sure much can do, go through motions reset router connects to it
gets around 480 down wired wifi on both his mobile around 180-200,
He says all his tests show 940 coming into ONT after that if you have issue contact provider,
I say look cant you even swap out the ONT , he checks mine bigger white box that was put in
during house build, his ones a little square. , wires it up to existing cables ,
test speeds agained wired 550Mbps down. but wifi has dropped down to 50Mbps so he changes
it back, and just turns around and says its a head scratcher, and nothing he can do.
Ive attached 2 images what they see, and a speedtest over wifi I see os of today,

@omgfttc can you try a wired speedtest using the Ookla CLI tester https://www.speedtest.net/apps/cli ?
Ive seen issues with browser based speed tests , although its mainly upload that seems to be affected.

All of those are browser based tests. Try downloading the cli version from the link I posted, that will eliminate any browser buffering etc

Your ping and latency values are awful! I wonder if youre on a hot vp ?
Compare with mine https://www.speedtest.net/result/c/18ea2146-9ee4-413d-b6f8-20bc928a780f
That's wireless ( although sat 10ft from router ) on a 900/115 connection, wired gives pretty close to 900 down.
Have you got any other wired device to test from ? just to eliminate the device as being the limiting factor

To be honest Im not sure,
but there isnt any stability on the wifi side, its up and down like a yoyo, ping can be good 7 speeds around 220Mbps,
then test couple hours later ping can jump up and speeds drop more down to like 150Mbps etc
https://www.speedtest.net/result/14648183933
the thing thats throwing me off the only change was the profile from 300 to 900,
ordered Rj45 connector for macbook will soon have 2 devices to test wired,

TBH the only definitive test is wired!. There are way too many external influences that can affect wireless tests.

totally understand, wifi can vary, and its all over the place,
just got connector. for macbook pro, get stable tests just over 500Mbps. but no where near 900

In that case , all I can suggest is raise a fault again. Speed should be much closer to 900.

Yeah trying, raised as a fault again, said they will ask a specialist person from openreach to come out,
Btw this is BT 900 product,
the only annoying thing is openreach have been rejecting bookings, had engineer booked thursday,
no show support rebooked, fro friday, again openreach rejected bith, got a manager on friday. to
get an engineer out saturday he did show but wasnt very computer literate. he ends up phoning
technical support on speaker, Openreach guy and tech guy both just saying to each other very strange
it should be working, with no idea how to isolate or fix,
Satuday night Technical manager who got openreach to come out saturday calls and says, Ive asked
everyone in the office no one has ever seen this before and have no idea how to fix, the only thing
we can offer is for you to downgrade, or we can goto deadlock. and take it to the ombudsman,
Last night signed up for plusnet 900, hoping by moving it might kick it into touch, paid £41.99 and setup
DD, and get an email today saying they cant complete order hehe,
Call bt back today report as fault again, they said will book for openreach for a third time, but will
make a request for a specialist openreach person who can problem solve, my guess is openreach
may reject booking for a 3rd time
