The Engineer left both FTTC and FTTP connected (as my fibre wasn't set to be activated until later - he came early due to cancellations in his day).
For a while the fibre box was still flashing as it took a while to activate / validating with BT/exchange.
I kept an eye on the box.
When the fibre wall box stopped flashing and was a solid light - I disconnected the FTTC cable.
One device (laptop) worked straight away, another (phone) wouldn't connect to the internet.
I rebooted the hub + devices and all was well.
My outside static IP is in the range 80.229.xxx.xx
All my internal devices are set to get internal IP by DHCP
e.g, This Computer (desktop, wired connection) has gateway set to 192.168.1.254
It has been assigned an internal IP address 192.168.1.168
I have only set a static (Internal) IP to one of my devices - my NAS - 192.168.1.86. I set this on the Plusnet Hub Two (setting "Always use this IP address") and not on the device itself, although in theory I could do this.
I have no need to assign an external IP to my devices.

I have no need to assign an external IP to my devices.
you can't anyway! The ( single) public static ip is assigned to the router. Any devices on the lan must have private ips in the router subnet

REPLY==> Yes! You are absolutely right and spot on. I did exactly as you stated above. I assigned a static IP of 192.168.1.15 to a PC with default gateway of Hub 2 router: 192.168.1.254. But this did not work, no connection with the router, router sees it as unknown device with static IP. See below
The bottom device: educateiot is a PC given a static IP of 192.168.1.15; Gateway is: 192.168.1.254 (Hub 2 Router)
There is no connection/communication as shown below:
This is where I am stuck at the moment and trying to work around that issue.

Sometimes the Hub won't 'see' devices that are on static ips. Try changing the device to dhcp and let the Hub allocate an ip. Then edit the device and select 'always use this ip' ,that will effectively give you a static ip BUT one that the Hub has allocated so it will 'see' the device.

Okay! But the IP address you have above is not fixed since it was assigned by the Router from its DHCP. "Always used this IP address" means Router reserved it when lease period expired but not guarantee. The router DHCP range is: 192.168.1.64 - 192.168.1.253 (and your desktop is within that range). fixed private static should be within 192.168.1.1 - 192.168.1.63. but the router is not playing well those values as far as I can confirm from my end.

Many thanks for your quick reply. I will tryout your suggestion tonight.
I am also on the lookout for purchasing static IP, some ISP have FTTP with £1 per static IP/month. I don't think Plusnet offers such options. This will bump up my billing to about £64.65 monthly but could be the best way to go.....

In a previous post you stated you have 80.229.14.13 as you broadband IP Address, this is your network public address.
Any plusnet account which is assigned an IP address of 80.229.0.0/16 (netmask 255.255.0.0) will be a static IP.
You need to ensure you do not confuse your LAN static IP addresses with your WAN (internet) IP address.

What you stated above is on the WAN side of the Hub 2 Router. That is my public IP Address (80.229.14.13)

REPLY==> Those address block are not given out nor assigned as 8 or 12 block to customers. I have only be given a single Public IP Addresses which I have on my Router WAN configuration (in fact my router picks this automatically). I am not confused with WAN and LAN sides and configurations.
Hub 2 LAN Side: 192.168.1.x/24 Private IP Address block. The => 192.168.1.1 - 192.168.1.63 range are for private static IP Addresses and should be usable e.g.
Window 11 Desktop PC:
static IP: 192.168.1.5
Gateway IP: 192.168.1.254 (Hub 2 Router LAN IP Address)
Expected outcome: The above PC should be able to connect to the router and have internet connection. But this is not happening, those private static IP values are there but they are not working.
Could this be a bug in the Hub 2 firmware? I have not seen the Hub 2 firmware or any infos about where to download them.
Do I need to Telnet into Hub 2 to enable them? .....
I have not tryout the bridge mode yet, may be I do that tomorrow.

There is no Telnet functionality in the Hub 2
I have not tryout the bridge mode yet, may be I do that tomorrow.
Bridge mode will effectively turn the HUb 2 into a VDSL modem. It disables ALL routing functions and DHCP. It will no longer obtain a public IP, you will need another router connected to the Hub 2.

So are you saying if you manually assign an IP Address between the range of 192.168.1.1 to .63 you do not have access to the internet; but if the device is assigned an IP address using DHCP it can connect to the internet?
So you set up a device in your example
Window 11 Desktop PC:
static IP: 192.168.1.5
Gateway IP: 192.168.1.254 (Hub 2 Router LAN IP Address)
What is the DNS setting? 192.168.1.254 or something else?
I see no reason why it does not work as I use non DHCP address without issues.

Oh! Okay I see, just getting back here.
Internal machines work without fixed private IP Address, so I am googling for a better Router to adopt.
I was able to access the machine externally
Just need to get my hands dirty, as I suppose.

If its working, then just edit the device on the Hub2 device list and select 'always use this address' , it's now a fixed IP address!

I totally agreed with you. That's is why I am suspecting the Router hardware. May be defective, factory faulted, etc...
Tomorrow, I am not teaching so that will be the time to get my hands dirty to tryout Routers like other other people have done.
Without fixed private IP Address, I was able to access my machine externally but I need fixed private static IP as I have domain names.

What is the DNS setting? 192.168.1.254 or something else?
You did not answer the question about the DNS IP Address, this is very important to know.
IPCONFIG /ALL looks for this setting, could it be this.
DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.254
If there is no IP that will be likely the cause of your issue, you been given the option to make DHCP address fixed so use that.

Well I can get an external connection to educateiot.com for 80 and port 9943 works as well

RemotePort : 80
InterfaceAlias : WiFi
SourceAddress : 192.168.10.100 <----- my laptop LAN IP

So the port forward rule is good.
