iPhone and iPad unable to connect to plus net wifi

For the last two weeks my wifi connection has been dreadful yet Plusnet service status says everything is fine. We have had quite a bit of rain after a dry summer and since then connection is terrible. My laptop sometimes connects, but my phone and iPad appear to connect but when I attempt to do something on either of them I get told “no internet connection”.  

is anyone else experiencing this problem within the past two weeks? I have rebooted phone, iPad, laptop, the WiFi hub anything I could think of and nothing helps. 

can anyone help me?

@thurhomish It may just be your connection which is playing up. PN Help Team can see more than I can, and may find a problem, but if you post the Troubleshooter page from you router - obscuring personal data, and the results of BTW Performance Tester , maybe other Community members can spot something.

You could try splitting the 2.4 and 5GHz wifi bands, it helps with Apple products.

Navigate in a web browser to 192.168.1.254.

Click Advanced Settings

Enter your Hub admin password when prompted (unless you've changed it, you'll find the default password on the settings card)
Continue to Advanced Settings.
Click on Wireless.
Click 5GHz tab.
Change 'Sync with 2.4Ghz' to No.
Change the name of the 'Wireless SSID' - I added a '_5' on the end.
Save the changes.



You can then select which one you want per device.

Agreed, @dvorak - on the Hub1. Unless the OP has gone back to the PN hub, he is using a BT HH6, which, AFAIK, doesn't suffer from the same problem.

I was going to suggest in a later post that he completely resets the Apple devices, but it would be interesting to see if he has a network problem first.

Ah didn’t realise- I split mine on the hh6 as well though

Is this easy to do? I don’t want to mess it up. Why would it suddenly stop working when it has worked fine previously ?

@thurhomish It is easy - there are instructions on the router board and @dvorak has actually posted them on here, but it would be useful if you could provide the information I requested, as I suspect you have a network problem.

thie BTW performance tester (attached) shows no errors when I run it on mylaptop  if I try to run while on phone or ipad I get told no internet connection. still looking for hub troubleshooter

When first joined plusnet they gave me an inferior HUB to that which I had with BT and I wash helped to add plusnet to my BT HUB which is why is looks as if I have BT internet but I don't.

No worries, @thurhomish The good news is that you don't appear to have network problem.

I'm not familiar with the BT HH6 but I think it is very similar to the Hub1, so to access the 'Troubleshooter', this picture may help.

To possibly help with the access problem on the Apple devices, get them to 'forget' your current connection, totally power them down, wait a good 10 minutes or so, then power them back up and let them find the connection again. You will have to re-enter the hub password again after clicking on your connection.

Sorry I can't help if you are having problems with the laptop - I still use W7 (occasionally).

Fix

Ooops - totally different to the Plusnet hub, so sorry, no. Ignore that for now - it may be irrelevant anyway.

Try resetting the Apple devices as I suggested above.

Thanks,I will try resetting the apple devices although I have tried that I did not leave them off for ten minutes. I will this time.
