I know that I can arrange call forwarding from my landline to my mobile but can I do this so that I have the opportunity to pick up the phone before the forwarding clicks in - ie just as with the answerphone?

Yes, when Call Divert is enabled, one of the choices is divert on no reply within 15 seconds:
Using Call Divert
There are three codes you can use, depending on what you want to do:
- 21 diverts all calls (divert immediately)
- 61 diverts calls you don't answer in 15 seconds (divert on no reply)
- 67 diverts calls when you're on another call (divert on busy)
If you want to... | Here's how you do it |
---|---|
Set up Call Divert | Press *(Code)*(Number to divert to)# |
Check Call Divert | Press *#(Code)# |
Turn off Call Divert | Press #(Code)# |
