@acsimpson17 A high resistance fault is a line fault so nothing to do with the router so no point changing it. Also the Caller ID problem is nothing to do with the router. It seems the engineer did nothing to fix the fault. You seem to have had a clueless engineer, I would ask Plusnet to send someone who has the knowledge to fix the problem.☹️

I agree with @RealAleMadrid - your engineer was a muppet - nothing in you post above his makes any logical sense.

As others have advised this isn't likely to be the cause but so we can escalate with Openreach can you unplug the router and then call the landline to see if the number is shown or not?

I have disconnected the router from the power and the telephone socket and caller ID is still not working. Still just says incoming call.

The previous fault report has been closed but doesn't seem to be resolved so I've opened a new one referencing the previous issues and I'll get back to you in the next few days as soon as we have an update.

Hi there, the fault has been passed back to us asking us to book an appointment, rather than arrange that again I'm going to query this and see if there's anything else we can do to help.

Thanks for your patience, I've reviewed this case with Openreach and with a colleague and we've found another way to get this resolved for you.
We've found even though this isn't a broadband issue, a test on the connection shows up a "high resistance cable fault" this doesn't show on line tests for the phone service.
This will be causing the problem with caller display so to deal with this we're cancelling the landline fault, once that's gone through the systems (on Monday) I'll raise a broadband fault and will let you know what the next steps are.

Please keep this open as we do need it to be resolved.
So the next step is for another openreach engineer to visit? Do they have a specific plan this time?

@acsimpson17 - They will need to go out to resolve the issue of high resistance imbalance so there won't really be a mention of caller display but as said before a fault with the line being detected on the broadband test is enough to prevent the caller ID data reaching the phone properly causing that issue. Have you got a date in mind for the visit? They do Monday to Friday 8AM and 1PM or 1PM - 6PM.
