Calls NOT included in Call Plan...

Hi,

Checking my Plusnet bill this afternoon I see I have a chargeable call.  Now I  always try and keep my calls down to a miximum of 60 minutes so I assume its the wife that has been gabbing on and on for hours with her mates...!  However on checking I see its a call I made to SMEG relating to my dishwasher failing under Warranty...

SMEG have a couple of numbers, these being - 08445579907 and 03445579907.  I rang the former and for 26 minutes it cost me £4.43.  This number is obviously not included in the Call Plan.

I always get confused as to what is and what is not included.  Of these two numbers which one is the cheapest to ring?

Thanks for your help.

(good job I didn't accuse the wife before checking otherwise it would be the spare bedroom for the next week...)

Fix

Anything beginning '03' is inclusive, along with '01' and '02'.

Re: Calls NOT included in Call Plan...

Checking here - https://www.plus.net/help/legal/ukcalling/

It says -

call charges for calls to 084, 087, 09 and 118 across the UK, will be made up of two parts: an access charge from Plusnet and a service charge from the organisation you are calling.

Then below explains -

>>> I always get confused as to what is and what is not included.  Of these two numbers which one is the cheapest to ring? <<<

Perhaps my original posting was not too clear - sorry Nibiru… What I really meant was of these two numbers - 08445579907 and 03445579907 - which one can I call free on my “Unlimited UK & Mobile” call plan.

>>> Anything beginning '03' is inclusive, along with '01' and '02' <<<  Thanks for that 198khz…

That means I can call SMEG on 03445579907 and the first 60 minutes is free.  Obviously the 08445579907 number is not as I was charged £4.43.

Thanks to all who replied.

Have a nice weekend.

Re: Calls NOT included in Call Plan...

Sorry you've been stung by Smeg. I've added them to my list of companies to avoid, when considering purchase we always look at the 'customer care' options and delete those who consider that 'helplines' are there to help their profits and not the interests of their customers. No doubt Smeg calls are immediately auto-answered and the charging starts, running up a hefty bill while the bot assures you that "We are experiencing high volumes of calls. Your call is important to us and one of our advisers will answer you as soon as possible".

In other scenarios this technique is used to scam those who respond to an unknown caller by imposing premium rate charges. A reminder that the Saynoto0870 website lists hundreds of alternative numbers to avoid these greedy chargeables.
