Re: Constant internet interruptions since switching to Plusnet Phone

Thanks a lot for getting back to us @Robert88, and I'm really sorry for the ongoing issues we have going on wit your line. I can imagine this becoming a real pain for you.

I don't want to book an appointment at short notice without checking to see whether you're going to be available first, so can you please let me know when you might be free this week?

The target downstream SNR is actually 6dB, so there's clearly something wrong here. I'll also pop a visual radius below which shows the increasing number of drops on the light, hence the 23.9dB noise margin.

Re: Constant internet interruptions since switching to Plusnet Phone

For the engineer, anytime during any weekday is fine, should always be someone here

I'll keep asking this but, Whilst waiting for the engineer is it possible to check the line for any banding?

Over the weekend, I checked the automatic line fault text service and it came up with 'NO Line faults', The connection has also been stable for the last few days with no auto resets  (The only resets have been manual ones done by me) and this whole time of having slow speeds, the Upload speed has consistently stayed at 1Mbps and has never changed

So it all seems to point to there being banding on the line, as that's what the issues was the last time all this happened? so again, Whilst waiting for the engineer or before you send one is it possible to check the line for any banding?

Re: Constant internet interruptions since switching to Plusnet Phone

Thanks a lot for getting back to me @Robert88. I'm so sorry, you're absolutely right in that the line is indeed on a banded profile:

WBC 288K - 576K Medium delay (INP Cool 6dB Downstream, UC Low delay (INP 0) 6dB Upstream (ADSL2+)

I still think something might be wrong here, but I've gone ahead and have reset both the downstream and upstream profiles on the line using our Self Service Repair Tool.

This should take a couple of hours to complete, do you want to see how you get on following the reset for a day or two, or go ahead with the engineer visit?

Re: Constant internet interruptions since switching to Plusnet Phone

Thank You

Judging from the same problems in the past, the connection will be fine and good for at least 6 months now, until a random reset or two will start the snowball effect of more and more banding until we end up in this exact same position again

Honestly I have no idea if there are any faults that cause this whole process so no idea if an engineer would be able to do anything?

For now at least it's all fine

Thank again

Re: Constant internet interruptions since switching to Plusnet Phone

Sooo I'm going to assume its currently in the process of resetting the line and removing the banding?

As the line has been constantly resetting, with speeds jumping all over the place between 10Mbps - 400Kbps since the earlier post

Re: Constant internet interruptions since switching to Plusnet Phone

@Robert88 Your D/S SNR figures look very high - I would suggest an engineer visit fairly soon if they don't come down to something in the region of ~6dB very soon.

Re: Constant internet interruptions since switching to Plusnet Phone

Yeah probably just the line readjusting

Resets have stopped and the speed is back up to normal-ish now (Its not quite at the speed it used to be, usually around 6-7Mbps but we'll see how it changes over the next few days)

Re: Constant internet interruptions since switching to Plusnet Phone

Good morning @Robert88, thanks a lot for your continued patience while the DLM reset goes though, I'm seeing improvements on my side to be honest, how has the connection been for you?

The MTBE may be a cause for concern, though given the line length -  2932 Metres, this can somewhat be expected, retrains could be better too, though I suspect DLM will increase the downstream SNR overtime to counteract this. Let me know how you're getting on.
