Hi here is the situation I switched to fibre as a result I knew I would lose my landline but wanted to keep my phone number with a voip provider I chose vonage. I tried to transfer my number across to vonage but they said plusnet had a cease order on my landline so could not proceed. I contacted plusnet after a lengthy call they said within 24 hours the cease order would be cancelled. I waited 72 to contacted vonage (voip) and told them to proceed. The number transfer was rejected because the cease order was still live. I contacted plusnet and they said it was now too late as the fibre was due to be installed the next day. Plusnet messed up.
They said that my number has gone into quarantine for between 5-10 days and then could be claimed by Vonage. Vonage have different options move your number but that can only be done whilst the landline is active. The other is change your number but really all I am wanting to do is transfer the number across. This whole process has really been a nightmare
Has any got experience of getting their number back?
The phone number is held by BT the plusnet customer services confirmed this.

Plusnet messed up.
No they haven't, the normal procedure is for the number to be ceased and go into quarantine
They said that my number has gone into quarantine for between 5-10 days
im afraid customerr services gave you incorrect information, you don't have to wait. Agents are still getting used to the right to port and sometimes don't get the information correct
The number will automatically go into quarantine. You have a right to port that for up to 30 days. The number IS available to port whilst it's quarantined, however it requires that the gaining provider contacts the losing provider porting desk. It would seem that Vonage's systems can't cope with that! If they are not willing to undertake the port , then I suggest you try Andrew's and Arnold https://www.aa.net.uk/voice-and-mobile/voip-information/. they have successfully ported non active numbers.
Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

You do need to wait until the upgrade is active before porting the number - otherwise the port could cancel your account and any order upgrade.
The number automatically goes into quarentine for 30 days to allow porting.

My understanding is that there is a process to retrieve your landline but it requires a supplier that understands how to do this.
You may want to go somewhere other than Vonage.
The most "clueful" VoIP supplier seems to be Andrews & Arnold.
